Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the organization's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, wireless controllers (WLC), firewalls, IPS, and core network services such as DHCP, DNS, VLAN, and routing protocols.
- Provide Level 2 and above support for IT infrastructure incidents - troubleshoot, resolve, and escalate as necessary in accordance with established procedures.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network equipment (Switches, Firewalls, WLCs) to ensure system stability and optimal performance.
- Implement and enforce firewall rules (FortiGate) and security best practices to safeguard systems against cybersecurity threats.
- Manage Layer 2/3 switch configurations (Cisco) and ensure efficient routing and network segmentation.
- Conduct regular updates and patching of network equipment and servers to maintain performance and security.
- Monitor and optimize network performance, analyse traffic, resolve connectivity issues, and plan for capacity expansion.
- Lead and execute infrastructure projects, including new system provisioning, upgrades, and service deployments.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation of network designs, configurations, and procedures for operational and audit purposes.
- Stay current with emerging IT technologies and best practices to support continuous improvement.
- Support and uphold child safeguarding responsibilities in accordance with Cognita's Child Protection Policy and Procedures.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology or related discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience in IT infrastructure support or network administration.
- Good knowledge in the following areas:
Microsoft Windows Server OS, VMware Virtualisation
Cisco IOS, network switches, routers, WLC, and IP telephony
FortiGate Firewalls
VLANs, DHCP, DNS
Microsoft Entra Directory, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace - Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize effectively under pressure.
- Advantageous if you possess:
ITIL certification
Microsoft or Cisco certifications
Cloud computing experience (Microsoft Azure)
Project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2)
