Job Description

Responsibilities

  • This position is for School of Computing and Information Systems Cybersecurity Programme (SCIS-MITB).
  • As a Cybersecurity Instructor:
    • Assist with creating and conducting hands-on lab sessions together with teaching faculty members for the supported courses. Faculty members will set the learning outcome of the lab session, set the lab direction and questions, while the instructor will be in charge of the detailed steps for the lab and data needed, and creating the solutions, to be verified by the faculty members.
    • Manage and administer assignments, tests, quizzes for competency-based assessments for the supported courses.
    • Develop new and/or modify current lab and case materials together with teaching faculty members of Cybersecurity courses.
    • Evaluate and support the use of course-specific software/ tools.
    • Hold office hours for student consultation for lab and assignment related queries.
    • Work closely with colleagues to ensure course materials are aligned with programme objectives.
    • Highly competent instructor with Master or PhD qualification may be tasked to teach courses independently beyond their usual role.
  • As Cybersecurity Practicum Manager:
    • Source for internships and capstone projects for students.
    • Work closely with faculty members and industry partners to ensure internships and capstone projects are beneficial to the students and the programme.
    • Manage and administer internships and capstone projects done by MITB CYB Track students.
    • Plan and manage MITB-CYB track 2 to 3 monthly seminars per year.
    • Assist in marketing activities (e.g. information/coffee sessions/masterclass/overseas trips/ interview MITB candidates for admissions) when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree in disciplines such as IT/IS/CS, Engineering or other related fields in Cybersecurity would be preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience in a cybersecurity domain such as cyber risk, vulnerability assessment and penetration testing, cybersecurity standards and protocols, incident response, threat analysis, security architect, cryptographic techniques, cloud security, AI-driven security, etc.
  • Experience running cybersecurity projects across hybrid business and IT teams.
  • Possess knowledge/skills such as Programming, Experimentation, Agile & DevSecOps, Software Project Management, Digital Enterprise Architecture, etc.
  • Good understanding of the needs of an educational program in an Institute of Higher Learning.
  • Have good industry network and the ability to interact with industry and manage relationships and its expectations.
  • An appreciation for different fields and domains to facilitate cross-disciplinary application/research of technology.
  • Able to coach students through their learning experiences and expectations.
  • Able to work independently, propose new ideas and implementation of ideas on new initiatives related to curriculum, industry and marketing.
  • Passionate and highly motivated to deliver high-quality results.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities.
  • Enjoy interacting with people.
  • Willingness to travel for recruitment trips, work flexible hours, sometimes during the evenings or on some weekends.

Candidates who do not possess the stipulated qualifications but have relevant work experience may still apply. Remuneration and appointment terms shall commensurate with qualifications and experience. SMU reserves the right to modify the appointment terms where necessary.
