Industry Training Officer
The Industry Training and Transformation (IT&T) Department is part of NTUCs Training and Transformation Group that supports companies in workforce and workplace training and business transformation.
Industry Training Officers (ITOs) drive training and transformation at companies or sectoral level to help workers upgrade in parallel with their companies transformations.
ITOs assist companies develop a viable and forward-looking business strategy, and roadmap to drive business growth using the Operation and Technology Road-mapping Methodology.
ITOs partner Unions and businesses to set up Company Training Committees with the aim to upskill and reskill employees so that they can transform and thrive in the dynamic industry landscape.
ITOs can either be deployed in Industry Sector Teams or in Unions Cluster Teams to support companies training and transformation initiatives.
ITOs work closely with the Industrial Relations Officers, Unions and the extended Labour Movement family to assist companies to translate business strategies into actionable outcomes such as technology adoption, job redesign, and skills upgrading to drive workforce, workplace and business transformation and growth.
ITOs, advocates fair labour and employment practices, promotes tripartism and industrial relations, and protects worker rights and advances the interests of workers.
Responsibilities
Primary Roles
- Consultant. Advise the CTC on suitable approaches and pathways to transform workforce and business.
- Facilitator. Customise and facilitate Operation and Technology Roadmap (OTR) workshops. Design and facilitate suitable interventions leading to jobs and skills upgrading.
- Integrator (Project Manager). Put together a customised transformation support package for the CTC, which includes NTUC, Government and resource partners.
Primary Responsibilities
- Drive project implementation and identify possible interventions to achieve good outcomes for businesses and workers.
- Develop workforce and business transformation strategies to address current and future needs.
- Translate workforce and business transformation strategies into actionable plans to achieve better worker outcomes and business growth.
- Identify appropriate resource partners for workplace safety and health, technology, training, and placement needs.
- Analyse jobs and skills gaps and recommend interventions to address these gaps.
- Coordinate with companies, resource partners and unions to implement projects.
Requirements
Experience
- At least 3 years of working experience, preferably in area of workforce or business transformation, reskilling, facilitation
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate at all levels
- Strategic Thinker, Analytical, Self-driven and Results Oriented
- Able to work independently as well as in a team
- Able to make sense out of information and data received from multiple sources
- Able to work with companies to identify operational gaps and requirement on jobs and skills development and recommend solutions on closing jobs and skills gaps together with the companies.
- Able to work with unions to mobilise companies and workers for jobs and skills development
