Job Description

Job Description

FGE NexantECA is a global energy and chemicals intelligence business, helping energy companies, traders, investors, and governments make better decisions in some of the world's most complex and fast-moving markets.

We combine deep market expertise with rigorous data-driven analysis across oil, gas, LNG, chemicals, and the energy transition. Our clients range from major producers and utilities to trading houses and sovereign funds, and they rely on us to cut through noise and give them a clear view of what's happening and what comes next.

We're also in the middle of something genuinely exciting. We're launching Lumen, a next-generation intelligence platform designed to move us well beyond static research, towards something faster, more connected, and far more directly usable by clients. Data, models, and AI-assisted insight working together in real time. This is a meaningful shift in how energy intelligence gets built and delivered, and this role sits right at the heart of it.

Job Requirements

We're looking for candidates with 3–8 years of experience in gas/LNG markets, energy analysis, trading, consulting, or a closely related field. The background matters less than the mindset.

We're particularly interested in people who:
  • Have strong market intuition as well as genuine analytical depth
  • Can form, articulate, and defend a view — not just present data and hedge conclusions
  • Are comfortable working in ambiguity, evolving environments, and fast-moving markets
  • Communicate clearly with both technical colleagues and senior external stakeholders
  • Are curious about how AI tools can make analysis faster, sharper, and more useful — and have already started exploring that in their own work
  • Are ready to take real ownership and step into a more visible, higher-impact role
Technically, you'll need advanced Excel as a baseline; Python or SQL is a meaningful plus. Experience building and working with large models and datasets matters. Familiarity with Snowflake or similar cloud data platforms is a plus, as is experience with AI and LLM tools — whether for research acceleration, drafting, data interrogation, or workflow automation. Direct client or stakeholder engagement experience is a strong advantage.

Job Responsibilities

Following a recent merger, FGE and NexantECA, leading consulting companies specializing in energy markets, are expanding our London, Singapore & Kuala Lumpur Gas & LNG Department. We are now looking for a Senior Analyst, who will have real ownership.

You'll be responsible for defining parts of our gas and LNG market view, leading original analysis, and ensuring that what we produce is both analytically rigorous and commercially relevant. You'll engage directly with clients, contribute to the evolution of Lumen, and help raise the analytical bar across the team.

You'll operate at the intersection of market fundamentals, modelling, and commercial impact, and we'll expect you to bring perspective, challenge assumptions, and make our analysis sharper.

Key Responsibilities

Market Analysis & Insight
  • Develop and defend views on specific regions, flows, or themes within global gas and LNG markets
  • Lead  analysis across supply, demand, pricing, and trade dynamics
  • Translate  complex, imperfect data into clear, decision-useful insight that reflects real market behaviour, not just model outputs
  • Contribute to shaping the broader house view on gas and LNG
Data, Modelling & Analytical Development
  • Build, maintain, and improve models and datasets supporting short- and long-term market outlooks
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities to strengthen data quality and analytical frameworks
  • Work across large datasets and bring structure, clarity, and rigour to ambiguous situations
  • Use AI and LLM tools to accelerate research workflows, surface patterns, and improve how insight is structured and communicated
Lumen & Product Development
  • Play an active role in how analysis is packaged and delivered through Lumen
  • Collaborate with product and technology teams to improve usability, workflows, and the integration of data, AI, and insight
  • Help shape how AI-assisted analysis gets embedded into the platform — from data summarisation to dynamic market narratives
  • Bring a genuine point of view on where energy research should go beyond static reports
Client & Commercial Engagement
  • Engage directly with clients through calls, presentations, and strategic discussions
  • Begin owning parts of key client relationships, not just supporting them
  • Help commercial teams position our insights effectively and understand how analysis translates into real client decisions
Team Leadership
  • Mentor and support junior analysts, helping them develop both technical capability and commercial awareness
  • Act as a reliable point of reference within the team on specific markets or methodologies
  • Contribute to raising standards across the analyst group — in quality, communication, and judgement

Job Benefits

The energy market is changing fast - and so are we. This is a rare opportunity to join a business mid-transformation, at a moment when individual contributors can genuinely shape how things are done.

You'll work on commercially relevant, real-world market questions with direct client impact. You'll have a hand in building Lumen and defining what next-generation, AI-assisted energy intelligence looks like. And you'll step into a role that offers real visibility, responsibility, and room to grow — without the layers that slow things down in larger organisations.

  • Competitive salary
  • Extensive range of employee benefits
  • Hybrid working policy
  • Fantastic career progression
