We are seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to lead the design, coordination, and delivery of fire protection systems for building and infrastructure projects. The role involves ensuring full compliance with local regulatory requirements while supporting project execution from design through to commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
- Lead the design and integration of fire protection systems, including sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, risers, gas suppression, and smoke control systems
- Prepare engineering calculations, hydraulic analysis, schematics, and technical drawings in compliance with applicable standards and codes
- Coordinate fire protection systems with ACMV, electrical, plumbing, and structural disciplines
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure all designs and installations comply with relevant regulations and codes (e.g. SCDF requirements, Fire Safety Act, BCA standards, SS and NFPA codes)
- Prepare and support submissions for fire safety plans, calculations, and regulatory approvals
- Liaise with relevant authorities, consultants, and stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals and clearances
Project Management
- Oversee fire protection works from design stage through to installation, testing, and commissioning
- Review shop drawings, material submissions, and method statements from contractors and vendors
- Support risk assessments, resolve site issues, and ensure timely project delivery within scope and budget
Testing & Commissioning
- Lead inspection, testing, and commissioning of fire protection systems, including interface with ACMV systems
- Ensure proper documentation, system handover, and compliance with certification requirements
Leadership & Mentorship
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and drafting personnel
- Share knowledge on fire safety codes, compliance requirements, and industry best practices
Requirements
- Min Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Safety Engineering, or related discipline
- Min 5-8 years of relevant experience in fire protection engineering within the construction or M&E industry
- Experience in building or infrastructure projects is preferred
- Experience in local fire safety regulations and authority submission processes is preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification is an advantage
