The Senior Finance Manager role leads the finance function of a manufacturing plant operation in Malaysia. This strategic leadership position oversees financial performance, statutory compliance, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering with local management and regional finance stakeholders. The successful candidate will provide timely, accurate, and value-added financial insights to support business decisions while maintaining strong financial governance and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Financial Management & Reporting
- Lead and manage the plant finance team, overseeing daily finance activities including revenue recognition, costing, accounts payable, general ledger, and financial controls
- Review monthly financial reporting packages and consolidation schedules to ensure compliance with group reporting requirements
- Prepare financial statements and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, statutory requirements, and regulatory guidelines
- Deliver timely and accurate financial analysis, management reports, and performance insights to support business decisions
- Serve as the primary finance liaison between local operations and regional or headquarters finance teams
- Business Partnering & Operational Support
- Analyse financial and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
- Monitor production efficiency, manufacturing costs, and key performance indicators
- Identify and drive cost optimisation and productivity improvement initiatives
- Partner closely with operations, supply chain, production management, and cross-functional teams to support business objectives
- Planning & Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting process, forecasting, and cash-flow planning
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and recommend corrective action where necessary
- Provide scenario analysis and strategic financial support to management
- Projects & Compliance
- Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements
- Participate in finance transformation initiatives and other ad hoc projects as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW, or an equivalent qualification
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in auditing, financial reporting, management reporting, or finance operations
- At least 3 years of management experience leading finance teams
- Experience in manufacturing environments is highly regarded
- Exposure to multinational company reporting, listed companies, oil & gas, or complex industrial operations will be an advantage
