About the Opportunity
Our client is a well-established engineering solutions provider specialising in valve automation, actuators, and flow control systems. Due to business growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Service Engineer to lead their field service operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineering professional who enjoys leading technical teams, managing complex field service projects, and working closely with customers across the oil & gas, petrochemical, marine, power generation, and process industries
Reporting to the Operations Manager and working closely with the Technical Manager, you will oversee a team of service engineers while ensuring the safe, timely, and high-quality execution of service and maintenance projects for both onshore and offshore clients
Key Responsibilities
Lead Field Service Operations
- Lead and supervise a team of service engineers in the installation, commissioning, calibration, maintenance, overhaul, and troubleshooting of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric actuators, valves, and associated control systems
- Oversee daily field service operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company and client standards
- Coordinate service schedules, manpower deployment, and project execution with internal stakeholders
- Act as the Site-In-Charge for major shutdowns, turnarounds, retrofit projects, and critical maintenance activities
- Conduct root cause analysis and provide technical recommendations to improve equipment reliability and service quality
Technical & Operational Support
- Work closely with the Technical Manager to ensure technical procedures and engineering standards are consistently maintained
- Prepare and review Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Permit-to-Work (PTW), and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) documentation
- Ensure compliance with all workplace safety and client HSE requirements
- Manage tooling, equipment calibration, and spare parts readiness to support field operations
- Review and verify service reports, technical documentation, and engineers timesheets
Leadership & Team Development
- Mentor, coach, and develop junior engineers and team leaders to strengthen technical competency
- Identify training requirements and support ongoing skills development
- Foster a positive, safety-focused, and collaborative working environment
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards and internal quality procedures
- Lead post-project reviews to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Support the enhancement of service procedures, SOPs, and technical documentation
Customer Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary on-site technical representative for clients
- Build strong customer relationships by providing professional technical advice and responsive service support
- Identify opportunities for additional maintenance services, upgrades, and improvements, working closely with the commercial team
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, or a related Engineering discipline
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience servicing industrial valves, actuators, or valve automation systems
- Strong technical knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric actuators, including installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Previous experience leading or supervising field service teams is highly preferred
- Familiar with industrial safety practices, including PTW, JSA, and risk assessment procedures
- Experience supporting plant shutdowns, turnarounds, or offshore projects will be an advantage
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- Willingness to travel to customer sites, including offshore assignments when required
