Job Summary
We seek an experienced Facultative Reinsurance Broker to grow our Engineering & Energy portfolio in Southeast Asia by originating business, structuring reinsurance solutions, managing relationships, and driving profitable growth.
Responsibilities
- Analyse complex engineering risks such as construction projects, machinery breakdown, and power plants to inform reinsurance decisions
- Review underwriting information, technical reports, and engineering data to assess risk profiles accurately
- Arrange facultative reinsurance placements tailored to client needs by negotiating terms, pricing, and coverage with reinsurers
- Prepare and present detailed submission documents to the reinsurance market to secure optimal placements
- Act as liaison between insurers (cedants) and reinsurers to facilitate clear communication and effective risk transfer
- Advise clients on reinsurance arrangements and current market conditions to support informed decision-making
- Maintain strong relationships with underwriters and reinsurers to enhance business opportunities and market access
- Prepare slips, endorsements, and placement documentation ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory and internal standards
- Maintain accurate records of placements and communications for audit and operational efficiency
- Monitor trends in engineering risks, pricing, and capacity to provide timely market intelligence
- Stay updated on developments in sectors such as construction, energy, and infrastructure to anticipate market shifts
- Share relevant insights with clients and internal teams to support strategic planning and risk management
Required competencies and certifications
- Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or related field preferred alternatively, Degree in Insurance, Risk Management, or Finance with relevant experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience in reinsurance broking or underwriting, preferably in engineering lines
- Experience in facultative reinsurance placement is desirable
- Good understanding of engineering insurance classes (CAR, EAR, MB, etc.)
- Knowledge of reinsurance structures and policy wordings
