Department: MLCC Manufacturing Systems
Reports to: Factory IT Manager
Functional Relationships with: Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, IT, Equipment Vendors
Position Profile:
Based in: Yishun, Singapore
Successful candidate will: Lead the design, integration, and improvement of automated systems within the MLCC manufacturing environment. This role enhances factory digitalization, machine connectivity, and real time data collection to improve productivity, quality, and operational reliability.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Integrate automation equipment (robots, sensors, barcode systems, material handling devices) into unified manufacturing systems.
- Implement and maintain machine-to-system connectivity and data acquisition for cycle times, reject rates, and machine utilization.
- Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and support predictive maintenance and continuous improvement.
- Lead automation projects to reduce manual work, increase efficiency, and improve product consistency, including ROI evaluation.
- Coordinate with equipment suppliers and integrators for installation, upgrades, technical support, and troubleshooting.
- Provide training to operators, maintenance technicians, and engineers on system operation, troubleshooting, and safety procedures.
- Mentor junior engineers and automation technicians in PLC, networking, and data integration competencies.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and IT teams to deliver integrated automation solutions.
Ability / Competency Required:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, information technology, computer engineering, or related fields.
- Professional certification in automation or industrial controls is an advantage.
- At least 5 years of relevant working experiences in manufacturing field.
- Strong knowledge of industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, OPC-UA, MQTT).
- Proficient with industrial PCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and Windows administration.
- Understanding of factory network architecture from field devices to ERP-level systems.
- Programming experience: VB.NET, Python, JavaScript, SQL, Shell scripting, Ladder Logic, IEC 61131 3.
- Experience managing data pipelines and machine connectivity systems.
- Project management and ROI evaluation capabilities.
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving ability.
- Self-motivated and technically independent in learning new automation technologies.
- Clear communicator able to translate technical issues for non-technical users.
- Effective team player across cross-functional manufacturing environments.
