[What the role is]

The Radiation Protection and Nuclear Science Group in NEA is Singapore's national authority for radiation protection, safeguarding the public, radiation workers and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation. Our Regulation Division administers and enforces the Radiation Protection Act and Regulations through licensing, inspection, and enforcement.

[What you will be working on]

As a Senior Scientific Officer/Executive Scientific Officer Of The Ionising Radiation Control Department, You Will Enforce Radiation Safety Regulations And Advance Singapore's Radiation Protection Framework Through

  • Administering the Radiation Protection Act and its Regulations, and ensuring regulatory compliance across all radiation users
  • Reviewing and enhancing the regulatory regime by benchmarking against international best practices
  • Evaluating radiation protection, security, transport and waste management plans to identify improvements
  • Developing policies and guidance for safe and secure use of radiation in industrial and medical facilities
  • Conducting site inspections and advising on radiation protection matters
  • Collaborating with industry stakeholders, international organisations, consultants as well as local and foreign government agencies

[What we are looking for]

The Job Might Be For You If You Possess

  • A Degree in Physics or radiation-related discipline.
  • The ability to process technical information and communicate findings through clear, professional reports and presentations.
  • The capability to work both in a team and independently, with the discernment to seek guidance when navigating complex or sensitive issues.
  • Strong organisation skills with the resilience to maintain high quality output while managing competing deadlines.
  • A positive, detail-oriented approach to problem-solving and the flexibility to adapt to evolving operational needs.
  • Critical thinking and sound judgement, with the ability to contribute to improvements of the regulatory framework.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective engagement with industry groups, inter-agency partners, and where relevant, international counterparts or regulatory peers
  • Relevant experience in the field of ionising radiation, radiation protection, or regulatory enforcement will be advantageous.
