About Department and Purpose of the Position
At the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS), education is a cornerstone of everything we do - from developing the next generation of oncology professionals to advancing scientific research and innovation.
We are looking for a driven and creative Senior Executive to support communications and strategic engagement for NCIS's scientific research, education and innovation portfolio.
Reporting to the Manager, you will support the development of clear, compelling content, coordinate education and research-related programmes, assist in the planning and delivery of key scientific and innovation symposiums and events (online or in-person), and work with clinical, research and administrative teams to bring NCIS's scientific and clinical work to life for internal and external audiences.
This is a contract position with the possibility of renewal, subject to performance and the operational needs of the department.
Key Responsibilities
Communications & Content Development (30%)
- Develop high-quality written content for NCIS's scientific research, education, and innovation communications, including articles, newsletters, reports, and institutional publications.
- Translate complex medical and scientific information into accessible, engaging content for diverse audiences including healthcare professionals, researchers, patients, and the public.
- Manage and contribute to NCIS's social media content planning, including coordinating content calendars, drafting posts, and monitoring engagement.
- Produce and edit video content to support education campaigns, event highlights, and institutional storytelling - from filming to post-production.
- Design visually compelling materials using tools such as Canva and Adobe Suite, including digital assets, event collaterals, presentations, and educational resources.
Campaign Coordination & Support (15%)
- Assist in the planning and execution of integrated communications campaigns under the guidance of the Manager, with a focus on NCIS's key and emerging innovation portfolio areas.
- Develop content plans and creative assets that effectively communicate the significance and impact of NCIS's innovation work to target audiences.
- Track and report on campaign performance, using insights to refine messaging and improve future campaign outcomes.
- Collaborate with clinical, research, and innovation teams to ensure accuracy and relevance of campaign content.
Event Management and Symposium Support (20%)
- Support the planning and execution of key NCIS scientific, research, education and innovation events (virtual or in-person), including major symposiums, seminars, forums and stakeholder engagement sessions.
- Coordinate event logistics including programme timelines, speaker liaison, registration, venue arrangements, vendor coordination, publicity materials and on-site support.
- Work with clinical, research, education and administrative teams to ensure event content, messaging and materials are accurate, audience-appropriate and aligned with NCIS priorities.
- Prepare and coordinate event communications, including invitations, EDMs, social media posts, event write-ups, presentation materials, signage and post-event highlights.
- Support post-event reporting, including feedback collation, attendance tracking, photo and video documentation, and evaluation of communications outcomes.
Education Programme Coordination (15%)
- Support the rollout of the NCIS Education Workplan, ensuring learning initiatives are clearly communicated and aligned with institutional goals.
- Coordinate education programmes across NCIS departments including clinical, research, nursing and allied health teams.
- Manage programme logistics such as scheduling, publicity, registration, speaker coordination and feedback collation.
- Develop and maintain tracking and evaluation systems to monitor programme participation, engagement and outcomes, and use data to recommend improvements.
- Assist in the development of education roadmaps covering clinical, research, and patient-focused initiatives.
AI, Innovation & Workflow Optimisation (10%)
- Proactively identify, evaluate and adopt AI and digital tools that can meaningfully improve communications quality, content creation, event support and workflow efficiency.
- Stay current with developments in AI-assisted communications and content tools, and bring forward practical, actionable recommendations to the team.
- Support the team in piloting new tools and embedding them into day-to-day workflows to improve consistency and output quality.
Stakeholder Engagement & Strategic Support (10%)
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of programmes and communications initiatives.
- Provide support for accreditation processes, funding applications, and institutional reporting related to education programmes.
- Represent the Communications & Strategic Engagement team in meetings and working groups as required.
Institutional Support & Flexibility (20%)
- Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the Reporting Officer or Head of Department.
- Provide flexible support for cross-team initiatives and evolving institutional priorities.
Key Requirements
- A degree in Communications, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of working experience in communications, marketing, content creation, events coordination, or a related role. Experience in a healthcare or research setting is an advantage.
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling narratives for varied audiences and formats.
- Experience in event coordination, including liaising with multiple stakeholders, sponsors, and vendors.
- Proficiency in design and content creation tools such as Canva and Adobe Suite, with a strong eye for visual storytelling.
- Hands-on experience in social media management, including content planning, drafting, scheduling and engagement monitoring.
- Video filming and editing experience, using tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, or equivalent.
- Interest in AI tools and their practical application in day-to-day communications work is a plus.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently.
- A collaborative and professional team player who is comfortable engaging with clinicians, researchers, administrators, senior stakeholders and external partners.
- Genuine interest in healthcare, oncology, or science communication is a plus.
