Job description:
Responsibilities1) Inventory, Forecasting & Replenishment
- Monitor inventory levels and replenish according to lead time, and usage trends.
- Expedite deliveries from suppliers to mitigate stockouts and manage storage space constraints.
- Attend to stockout items; coordinate with buyers to source ex-stock quantities and short-term measures.
- Run monthly forecasting and ageing analysis in SAP; propose drawdown/disposal plans for excess/obsolete (E&O) stock.
- Maintain critical spareslists tied to maintenance plans and fleet availability targets.
2) Procurement Coordination & Sourcing
- Coordinate with Procurement on weekly cadences to review priorities, shortages, and delivery risks.
- Evaluate RFQs/tenders for stock items (via Ariba); perform price benchmarking and lead-time assessment.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives by evaluating aftermarket vs OE parts with Engineering.
- Bring in parts to support projects, heavy maintenance (TM/engine overhauls), and CSW requirements.
3) Contracts & Governance
- Ensure contract terms and pricing are correctly reflected in SAP and adhered to in purchasing.
- Comply with procurement governance, audit requirements, and internal controls.
4) Supplier & Risk Management
- Track supplier OTD (on-time delivery), lead times, and responsiveness; escalate risks early.
- Identify supply risks for critical components; propose mitigations (dual sourcing, safety stock, forward orders).
- Collaborate with Procurement to resolve supplier quality or delivery issues.
5) Data, Systems & Reporting
- Maintain clean master data (MOQ, lead time, pricing, units) in SAP.
- Run consignment settlement reports and reconciliations on schedule.
- Build and maintain dashboards/reports for inventory health (ageing, availability, stockout trends).
- Support improvements/automation in SAP/Ariba and reporting workflows.
6) Engineering & Project Support
- Coordinate with Engineering to evaluate fit/form/function and qualification of OEM parts to achieve savings.
- Plan material availability for modification programs, fleet introductions, and overhauls.
7) Continuous Improvement & Sustainability
- Recommend process improvements (reorder policies, parameter tuning, supplier consolidation).
- Maintain SOPs/work instructions; contribute to Kaizen initiatives.
Qualifications & Work Experience- Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or relevant studies
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs
- SAP PM module experience preferred
- Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or related.
- 35 years in material planning or procurement in automotive/bus/rail/heavy equipment (Senior: 58+ years).
- Hands-on with SAP (MM/Materials) and Ariba (or equivalent e-procurement platforms).
- Strong Excel; Power BI or analytics exposure is a plus.
- Familiarity with bus systems/components (e.g., traction motor, engine, driveline, braking, electrical) is advantageous.
- Proven stakeholder management with Engineering, Maintenance, Depots, and Procurement.
- Governance/audit experience in public transport or regulated environments is a plus.
