Our client is a reputable Shipping MNC. In view of expansion, they are currently seeking a suitably qualified candidate to join them as Senior Executive/Asst Manager (Chartering). In this role, you will be responsible for the following :
Conduct time-chartering of suitable container ships from the market to meet internal tonnage demand with competitive results against industrial peers
Prepare, negotiate and conclude charter parties in a timely and satisfactory manner
Monitor the market and maintain good relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to always stay on top of the internal demand and supply in both spot and forward markets, including vessel performance/operations team, network planning team, ship owners, ship brokers etc
Collect quality market information from a variety of sources and duly conduct sound analysis
Perform thorough due diligence and ensure consistent compliance with internal policies and industrial rules/regulations and laws, including vendors/ships background checks, performance evaluation, legal/financial risks, corporate standards, etc.
Ensure that shipowners and shipbrokers coordinate effectively and promptly in accordance with charterers orders.
Be ready to provide all necessary assistance to post-fixture team and financial settlement team to solve issues quickly and effectively
Prepare market reports, KPI submissions and other internal materials for the team and the management. Study and develop chartering strategy and tactics and execute agreed action plans faithfully
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Economics or Maritime-related discipline
Ideally 3 - 5 years of chartering experience in shipping industry
Possess high level of integrity, passion and growth mindset
Strong team player and able to work across levels and with people with different backgrounds
Good interpersonal and communication skills with fluency in English
Quick learner with good negotiation and analytical skills
Meticulous, self-starter and adaptable to changing environments to work under pressure and tight deadlines
Experience in vessel operations/post fixtures/chartering and/or service product-related functions in the liner industry will be an asset but not a must
