About the Role
We are looking for a capable, curious and detail-oriented Senior Executive / Assistant Manager, Research to join our team. This role is suited for someone who is ready to take on greater ownership across the research lifecycle, work independently, work with different stakeholders and be accountable for delivering quality project outcomes.
You will be involved in a range of qualitative and quantitative studies within the RySense group, including local studies, industry research studies and international projects. You will work closely with internal teams, external vendors, fieldwork partners and stakeholders to ensure that studies are well planned, well executed and translated into clear, actionable insights.
For candidates appointed at Assistant Manager level, the role may also include opportunities to guide and mentor more junior team members, support their development and contribute to team capability-building.
Key Responsibilities
As part of the research team, you will play an active role in managing and delivering research studies from planning to reporting. Your responsibilities may include:
- Lead or support the design and execution of qualitative and quantitative research studies across local, industry and international research projects.
- Conduct detailed literature reviews, background research and contextual analysis to support research design and interpretation.
- Develop, review and refine research instruments, including questionnaires, discussion guides, screeners and other study materials.
- Plan study execution, including sampling considerations, timelines, fieldwork approach, resource requirements and operational workflows.
- Coordinate fieldwork with internal teams, external vendors and international fieldwork partners, ensuring that progress is closely tracked and issues are resolved in a timely manner.
- Take ownership of project timelines, milestones and deliverables, ensuring that studies are completed to a high standard and aligned with project objectives.
- Clean, process, structure and transform data to prepare it for analysis, reporting and visualisation.
- Analyse structured and unstructured data to identify patterns, trends and meaningful insights.
- Interpret research findings and contribute actively to the commentary, storyline and recommendations in research reports.
- Prepare clear reports, presentations, charts and data visualisations that communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.
- Manage stakeholder communication professionally, including clarifying requirements, providing project updates and addressing feedback.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure smooth project delivery and contribute to continuous improvement in research processes and practices.
- For Assistant Manager-level candidates, guide and mentor junior staff by reviewing their work, sharing research knowledge and supporting their development.
What We Are Looking For
- A bachelor's degree in any discipline, preferably with exposure to business, statistics, social sciences, marketing, psychology, mathematics, analytics, project management or related fields.
- Relevant experience in market research, policy research, social research, industry research or a related field; candidates with stronger experience may be considered for the Assistant Manager level.
- A sound understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methods, with the ability to apply appropriate approaches to different study objectives.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to derive clear, meaningful and strategic insights from data.
- Good project management skills, with the ability to manage timelines, coordinate stakeholders and follow through on deliverables.
- Strong attention to detail, especially in research design, fieldwork monitoring, data quality, analysis and reporting.
- Ability to work independently, take accountability for project outcomes and handle challenges with agility and tenacity.
- Confidence in working through ambiguity and making practical recommendations to move projects forward.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, including data handling, pivot tables and data visualisation. Familiarity with tools such as SPSS, Python, R, SQL or other analytical platforms would be an advantage.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage internal and external stakeholders professionally.
