Summary
Apple is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join the Global Network Services (GNS) team. This person will work in a dynamic team environment and be responsible for designing and implementing infrastructure in the Global Enterprise Network, including WiFi, BGP, MPLS, VXLAN and automation, supporting both internal and external customers.

This person will develop, implement and support complex networking solutions to address a variety of business challenges. They will need to excel in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task and provide operational support while working closely with peers in Engineering & Architecture, Operations and DevOps to implement new technologies. This person must be a collaborative team player who works across cross-functional groups, with the ability and willingness to mentor others and a sound business approach to supporting our global footprint.
This person will need to obsess over the customer experience and drive operational excellence in their everyday work. Beyond the strong technical demands, this position also requires strong people skills and an individual who thrives in the dynamic nature of Apple's environment.
Responsibilities
- - Design, implement and maintain large-scale enterprise network infrastructure across multiple regions
- - Architect and operate advanced routing and switching environments including BGP, EVPN and VXLAN-based fabrics
- - Deploy, optimize and troubleshoot enterprise and campus WiFi networks across Cisco, Meraki and Aruba platforms
- - Manage and troubleshoot next-generation firewalls including Palo Alto, Fortinet and Cisco
- - Perform deep packet analysis and protocol troubleshooting across the TCP/IP stack and related networking protocols
- - Automate network operations, monitoring and configuration tasks using Python or Go
- - Create and maintain network documentation including network diagrams, runbooks and standard operating procedures
- - Participate in change management processes and maintenance windows to ensure minimal disruption to business operations
- - Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network engineers
- - Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends
Minimum Qualifications
- - At least 8 years of experience with multinational enterprise network design, deployment and support
- - Extensive hands-on experience with IGP/EGP in enterprise and service provider environments
- - Solid understanding of TCP/IP (both IPv4/IPv6) and Internet routing policies
- - Extensive hands-on expertise in enterprise WiFi design, deployment and troubleshooting
- - Strong experience managing next-generation firewalls
- - Solid experience with network automation using Python or Go
- - Experience with network monitoring and observability tools
Preferred Qualifications
- - College degree (BA or BS); technical degree preferred
- - Experience with DevOps and cloud networking is a strong advantage
- - Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
- - Advanced network certifications preferred
