Job Description

Job brief:

SPTel is looking for a professional and creative Software engineer to be part of our OSS team to support systems within SPTel SDN based Network. The candidate should have excellent organization and problem-solving skills. If you also have hands-on experience in software development and agile methodologies in a Dev/Ops environment with telecommunication background, we'd like to meet you.

Responsibilities

  • Act as subject matter expert on OSS Assurance Tools focusing on configuration, deployment, and day-to-day operations.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (NOC, Network Operations, Service Delivery etc) to understand business requirements and translate them into effective configurations for the deployed systems / tools.
  • Configure and customize the tools to meet needs of business, operation users.
  • Work with internal team and vendors to integrate new features and enhancements into deployed tools, ensuring compatibility and seamless operation.
  • Conduct thorough testing of the configurations and deployments to identify and resolve any issues or performance bottlenecks.
  • Monitor and analyse the performance and effectiveness of the deployed tools, making recommendations for improvements and optimization.
  • Work with ITSM & NOC teams to troubleshoot and resolve any issues or incidents related to the deployed OSS tools, ensuring minimal impact on operations.
  • Collaborate with vendors and external partners to implement and maintain the system, including managing software updates and patches.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in OSS trends and recommend innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as assigned by superior from time to time.

Role Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Telecom OSS domain mainly in Service Assurance
  • Proven experience working with telecom service assurance tools, specifically in configuration, deployment, and day-to-day operations.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard fault management systems, such as IBM Tivoli Netcool, HP OpenView, Nokia NAC/AOR, CA Spectrum, or equivalent will be a plus.
  • Strong technical skills in areas such as scripting, database management, and network protocols.
  • Familiarity with Apache Nifi will be an advantage.
  • Experience with OSS integration, including data mapping, data transformation, and API integration.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, utilizing protocols like TCP/IP, ICMP, JMS, Kafka, syslog, or SNMP to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
  • Solid understanding of telecommunications and network operations, including network monitoring, fault management, and performance management.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to quickly analyse and resolve complex issues.
