Job Description - Senior Engineer (Network & Security Systems)

Role Overview
The Edge Contracting Services is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer - Network & Security Systems to join our team on a 1-year contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring, and support of enterprise networking and security infrastructure. This role requires expertise in managing Cisco & Arista network switches, Palo Alto firewalls, Forescout EyeInspect, and Aruba Wi-Fi solutions to ensure a secure, reliable, and high-performing IT environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco and Arista network switches in enterprise environments.
- Administer, optimize, and secure Palo Alto firewalls, including policies, VPNs, and threat prevention features.
- Deploy, manage, and monitor Forescout EyeInspect for network visibility, segmentation, and device security.
- Design, implement, and support enterprise Aruba Wi-Fi infrastructure, ensuring coverage, performance, and security.
- Conduct routine network performance monitoring, capacity planning, and issue resolution.
- Apply security best practices across all networking and security platforms.
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to deliver resilient, scalable, and secure network solutions.
- Document designs, configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Provide 3rd-level technical support and lead troubleshooting efforts for escalated incidents.
- Participate in IT projects, network upgrades, and new technology implementations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- 3-5 years of professional experience in network engineering and security operations.
- Strong expertise with:
Cisco & Arista network switches (configuration, VLANs, routing, redundancy, etc.)
Palo Alto firewalls (rules, NAT, VPN, security profiles, threat protection)
Forescout EyeInspect (visibility, NAC, segmentation, device compliance)
Aruba Wi-Fi solutions (deployment, access control, troubleshooting) - Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, etc.), and network security principles.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with ability to work under pressure.
- Effective communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred Certifications (a plus, not mandatory)
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher
- Arista Certified Engineering Professional (ACE-P)
- Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE)
- Forescout Certified Administrator (FSCA)
- Aruba Certified Mobility Professional (ACMP)
