Position Overview
Design and develop advanced optoelectronic devices-including FP lasers, DFB lasers, EMLs, and external cavity laser modules-to meet performance and product requirements. This role involves building test setups and characterization capabilities aligned with the company's technology roadmap and integrating these capabilities into in-house manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop new semiconductor laser-based devices, including creating imaging setups for beam characterization, chip waveguide measurements, and integrating optical systems to achieve stable wavelength and power control perform thermal, Characterization of electrical, and high-frequency performance testing.
- Design and lead experiments to characterize laser diode components, identify engineering trade-offs, and improve correlation between measurements and simulations, ensuring full integrity and traceability of test and sample data.
- Serve as the strategic technical point of contact for laser device development within our optical engines, working closely with internal teams and external partners contribute to defining laser integration roadmap.
- Generate timely test reports, including measurement results and detailed analysis.
- Support the full lifecycle of laser components-from initial design and development through procurement, characterization, packaging, and transition to high-volume manufacturing.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Degree or postgraduate degree (Master's, PhD, or equivalent) in optical engineering, physics, electrical engineering, or related fields specialization in semiconductor device design and characterization preferred.
- 5 - 8 years in relevant industries, ideally involving lasers or semiconductor photonic devices experience with laser simulations and understanding of optical/electrical behavior.
- Familiarity with semiconductor fabrication processes (lithography, etching, deposition, oxidation, implantation) and laser/waveguide simulationtools (e.g., Lumerical, Crosslight).
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Python, Excel/JMP, Minitab, DOE) and mask layout design software (e.g., Klayout).
- Strong teamwork and cross-cultural collaboration skills ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with strong written and verbal communication.
