Job Description

Purpose

  • The Senior Engineer, Civil & Structural (P3) provides experienced, independent civil and structural engineering expertise on projects of moderate to large scope, complexity and impact, with minimal supervision. The role leads the design, coordination and delivery of safe, compliant and constructible structural solutions, applying in‑depth technical knowledge, seasoned professional judgement, WSP standards and regulatory requirements to achieve high‑quality project outcomes.
  • The role delivers across the full project lifecycle—from concept and design development through detailed documentation, authority submissions, construction support and completion—and ensures outputs meet quality, safety and SHEQ expectations. In line with JAF P3 (Professional – Experienced) expectations, the role exercises independent judgement on complex technical matters, contributes to project‑level technical strategy, supports resolution of construction and design risks, and provides technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, while escalating highly complex or out‑of‑policy issues as required.

Key Responsibility Areas

Responsibilities

  • Design Delivery & Technical Leadership (Civil & Structural)
  • Lead and deliver preliminary, schematic and detailed civil and structural designs for projects of moderate to large scale and complexity
  • Perform and review structural analysis (load paths, loadings, stresses and stability) to ensure designs safely transmit loads to ground in compliance with codes and project requirements
  • Exercise independent judgement in selecting appropriate design methods, assumptions and technical approaches
  • Provide technical direction to junior engineers on assigned project components
  • Engineering Analysis, Reviews & Assurance
  • Resolve moderately complex to complex engineering problems, including those with cost, constructability or programme implications
  • Prepare and sign off design deliverables including calculations, reports, drawings and specifications in accordance with WSP standards
  • Act as discipline checker/reviewer to obtain internal approvals and ensure design quality and compliance with QA/QC processes
  • Interpret and apply codes, standards, client requirements and authority conditions, including ambiguous or evolving requirements
  • Authority Interface & Submissions
  • Serve as a key technical interface with Clients, client representatives, architects, contractors and other consultants
  • Coordinate civil and structural interfaces with architecture, MEP, geotechnical and construction teams, proactively managing clashes and risks
  • Provide technical input into project planning, sequencing and constructability considerations
  • Construction & Site Support
  • Provide senior technical support during construction, including site inspections, technical clarifications, RFIs and non‑conformance resolution
  • Support resolution of design variations, construction issues and defect rectification
  • Contribute to as‑built documentation and completion requirements
  • Leadership, Mentoring & Practice Improvement
  • Provide technical guidance, on‑the‑job coaching and informal mentoring to engineers and graduate staff in local and GCC centers
  • Support Section Leads and Managers by contributing to continuous improvement of design processes, tools and technical standards
  • Act as a technical resource integrator, contributing actionable improvement ideas across projects
  • Quality, Safety & SHEQ
  • Uphold and actively promote high standards of design quality and construction safety
  • Ensure compliance with SHEQ, safety and health policies, particularly during site activities
  • Identify hazards, manage design‑related risks and contribute to a strong safety culture

Requirements

  • Recognised Degree in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering or equivalent
  • 4–6 years of relevant industry experience in civil and structural design engineering (e.g. building structures and/or infrastructure projects)
  • Strong working knowledge of Singapore Codes of Practice, standards and regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated experience delivering designs across concept, detailed design, authority submissions and construction support
  • Proven ability to independently resolve complex technical issues and lead design components
  • Professional registration (or progress towards registration) is strongly encouraged
