The Senior Engineer, Cloud & Container Infrastructure will be responsible for the design, engineering, and operations of the on-premises private cloud platform, with a primary focus on Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization and Containerization, with secondary expertise in VMware, Nutanix and HyperV.
Make an Impact by:
- Design, Implement and maintain Openshift Virtualization and Container infrastructure in covering on-premises datacentres. Support also VMware, Nutanix or HyperV platforms
- Drive Process, Quality, Productivity and Security improvements within the domain
- Works with other technology groups in resolving production issues, including security related issues
- Responsible for capacity planning of Compute infrastructure, including licensing and vendor support related engagements. Also includes obsolescence management
- Work with Change Management to propose and implement changes, especially for patching and migrations.
- Works with other groups to implement new builds
- Ensure solution proposed in compliance with security and best practices adopted by the industry
- Document and communicate Enterprise Infrastructure strategies and standards
- Ensure solution compliance and integration with enterprise architecture and Infosec policy for Infrastructure and Security systems by reviewing and advising on new and existing Information Technology projects
- Providing advice and guidance to management during planning phases to ensure that non-functional requirements are included in the overall specifications
- Providing advice and guidance to all areas of IT and Business Management, analysts, planners, designers and developers on all aspects of compute infrastructure, including build and operations policies
- To ensure that work meets all related engineering, planning, and operational standards
- Create and document the solution using the existing Infrastructure Standard Platforms and Design Patterns
- Assist in ongoing efforts to automate the operations of the infrastructure
Skills for Success:
- Degree in Computer Science or any other equivalent.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in testing in an Agile environment (User Stories, why Acceptance Criteria are important)
- The key technical skills are based around business & technical platforms Quality engineering practices & automation in a cloud-based environment and CI/CD, so experience in a similar environment is essential and any experience with Performance and/or Load testing is highly desirable.
- Solid coding experience is essential.
- Exposure to Java Spring Boot development & test automation is also essential.
- Experience building automation testing frameworks for self-service, mission crtical platforms.
- Cloud, k8s experience also necessary into AWS/Azure environment
- Chaos Engineering /Litmus Chaos - as optional / nice to have skillset.
- CastleMock/other mocking frameworks and QMetry exposure also needed
