Job Description

About the Role

Airwallex is a global fintech platform helping modern businesses operate across borders with ease. Backed by leading investors and valued at over $5 billion, we power high-growth companies with global payments, treasury, and embedded financial services. With teams across the Americas, APAC, and EMEA, we're scaling rapidly and looking for team members who thrive in fast-paced, high-impact environments.

We're seeking a sharp, pragmatic, and globally minded Senior Employment Counsel to join our growing legal team. This role will provide strategic employment advice focused primarily on APAC, while also supporting our People team and business leaders on a wide range of employment matters across EMEA and other regions as needed. We're looking for someone with both in-house and law firm experience, ideally with a track record of working across multiple jurisdictions in complex, fast-scaling environments.

What You'll Do

  • Advise on the full range of employment issues, including hiring, performance management, terminations, compensation, investigations, and employee relations.

  • Partner with the People team and business leaders to support compliant, scalable employee lifecycle practices.

  • Conduct and oversee internal workplace investigations.

  • Collaborate on and lead employment-related litigation and pre-litigation matters.

  • Develop and scale employment processes through policies, training, templates, and tooling.

  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments across jurisdictions and assess their business impact.

  • Support cross-border employment issues, including remote work, international expansion, and mobility.

Who You Are

  • 9-14 years of experience practicing employment law, with a mix of in-house counsel and law firm experience strongly preferred.

  • Qualified and licensed to practice law in at least one jurisdiction APAC and/or EMEA regional experience required.

  • Strong understanding of global employment laws, particularly across APAC.

  • Proven ability to lead or advise on sensitive employee relations matters and investigations.

  • Skilled at working independently and navigating ambiguity in a high-growth, global business.

  • Excellent communicator with strong judgment, discretion, and a collaborative approach.

  • Fluent in English additional languages such as Chinese are a plus.
