Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced, driven, and passionate Senior Editor / Editor to join our Chinese News division. In this role, you will collaborate closely with newsroom teams to uphold the highest standards of content quality and journalistic excellence across digital, television, and radio platforms.

This position offers a unique opportunity to shape impactful and trusted stories, uphold editorial integrity, mentor emerging talent and meaningfully engage audiences in an evolving media landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualise, plan, and assign editorial content across digital, television, and radio platforms, drawing from multiple sources to ensure depth and diversity of coverage.
  • Edit, review, and vet content to ensure accuracy, balance, objectivity, timeliness and adherence to editorial guidelines.
  • Lead, mentor, and guide junior producers and journalists in story ideation, development, and execution.
  • Uphold and enforce high editorial standards, ensuring all content is relevant, compelling and of the highest quality.
  • Coordinate content and workflows across platforms to ensure consistency and alignment in storytelling.
  • Manage special editorial projects and cross-platform initiatives as assigned by the Chief Editor.
  • Collaborate closely with newsroom teams and stakeholders across Mediacorp to ensure seamless coordination, efficiency, and editorial coherence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Mass Communication, Journalism, or a related field, with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in journalism, broadcasting, or media production.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken Chinese, with strong proficiency in English.
  • Strong editorial judgment with a deep understanding of local news, current affairs, and media trends.
  • Proven editing and writing skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills; dynamic, resourceful, and a collaborative team player with excellent communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends and public holidays, in line with newsroom operations.
