Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer (Cloud Infrastructure)
Location: Singapore (Central)
Employment Type: Full-time / Permanent
About the Role
We are looking for a pragmatic and self-sufficient DevOps / Platform Engineer to join a forward-deployed engineering team supporting a major social and family development ministry.
In this role, you will work on high-impact digital services that directly support citizens and community partners. You won't just manage servers-you will work closely with software engineers to build, modernize, and operate secure, highly available cloud platforms.
You will be working in a hybrid environment that includes both greenfield (new platform builds) and brownfield (modernizing legacy systems) initiatives.
What You Will Do
Design, build, and maintain highly secure cloud infrastructure using AWS.
Write and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or OpenTofu.
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (specifically GitLab CI) to automate application deployments.
Containerize applications using Docker and orchestrate them via ECS and Kubernetes (EKS).
Implement robust observability, monitoring, and incident response protocols for production systems.
Enforce security best practices across the stack, including IAM, encryption, authentication/authorization, and audit logging.
Work closely with development teams to troubleshoot issues across the application and infrastructure layers (Java/Kotlin, Python, or TypeScript environments).
Modernize legacy applications and platforms (experience with low-code platforms like OutSystems, Appian, or Pega is a plus).
Translate complex business problems into practical, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.
Who We Are Looking For (Mindset)
We care more about your engineering fundamentals than your ability to memorize buzzwords. We value engineers who:
Take full ownership: You are comfortable handling a feature from requirements gathering all the way through to production support.
Solve root problems: You don't just complete tickets you question assumptions and fix the underlying issues.
Think in trade-offs: You balance speed, security, cost, and long-term maintainability without being rigid.
Thrive in ambiguity: You can take a high-level business request and turn it into a working technical solution.
Prioritize quality: Testing, documentation, and observability are core parts of your workflow, not afterthoughts.
Communicate clearly: You can explain technical decisions to both fellow engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
Act with integrity: You understand the importance of handling sensitive data responsibly.
Technical Capabilities (Must-Haves)
You do not need to be an expert in everything, but you must have strong, hands-on experience in the majority of the following:
Cloud: AWS (EC2, ECS, EKS, VPC/Networking).
IaC: Terraform or OpenTofu (This is critical for the technical assessment).
Containers: Docker and Kubernetes.
CI/CD: GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
Operations: Production operations, incident response, and observability/monitoring.
Security: Authentication, authorization, encryption, and audit logging.
Bonus / Nice-to-Have
Strong programming experience in Java, Kotlin, or Python (FastAPI/Django).
Experience with TypeScript and React/Next.js.
Experience with data engineering/ETL pipelines or event-driven architectures.
Experience with enterprise platforms like Salesforce, OutSystems, Appian, Pega, or Microsoft Dynamics.
Experience working in highly regulated environments (Finance, Healthcare, or Government sectors).
Experience with platform modernization or building reusable internal engineering platforms.
