A leading engineering and project delivery consultancy is seeking a Senior Design Engineer (SolidWorks Specialist) to drive the mechanical development of complex product assemblies. This role requires a seasoned professional with deep hands-on expertise in SolidWorks and a strong background in industrial MEP-related mechanical design. You will transform conceptual ideas into detailed, manufacturable 3D assemblies while ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices in DFM/DFA.
Responsibilities
- Mechanical Design Leadership: Lead full-cycle design of mechanical systems using SolidWorks, ensuring alignment with functional, performance, and manufacturability objectives.
- Module Mastery: Apply advanced proficiency in SolidWorks Weldments for structural frames, Sheet Metal for enclosure and bracketry design, and Piping for complex routing and assembly integration.
- Technical Documentation: Produce complete technical drawing packages including 2D drawings, BOMs, specifications, and model quality checks.
- DFM/DFA Execution: Conduct manufacturability and assembly analyses to identify risks and optimize cost-effective production workflows.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to resolve routing clashes, improve model accuracy, and standardize BIM/RFA deliverables.
- Standards Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant mechanical and piping standards (e.g., ASME B16.5, B16.9, B36.10).
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Experience: Minimum 10+ years of experience in SolidWorks mechanical design roles.
- SolidWorks Expertise: Proven expert-level proficiency in Weldments, Sheet Metal, and Piping modules.
- DFM/DFA Skills: Strong practical understanding and application of Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly principles.
- Technical Output: Demonstrated ability to deliver LOD 400 SolidWorks models and detailed drawings.
- Communication: Strong communication and stakeholder management skills for working with global engineering teams and suppliers.
