Senior Design Engineer (Electrical - Genset industry)

Key Responsibilities

• Design and prepare electrical drawings, Bills of Materials (BOM), and technical documentation for manufacturing and production.

• Ensure designs comply with ISO requirements and applicable regional standards.

• Collaborate with the procurement team to identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers and electrical components.

• Work closely with the manufacturing team to support electrical installation activities and ensure efficient production processes.

• Apply knowledge of generator controllers and alternator systems in product design and development.

• Partner with Industrial Solutions and Sales teams to understand customer requirements and provide timely engineering support for tender submissions.

• Support design testing and validation activities, including parameter tuning and optimization of controllers, governors, AVRs, PLCs, and HMIs.

• Design, configure, and program controllers, PLCs, and HMIs as required.

• Provide on-site and remote technical troubleshooting and support when necessary.

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, product quality, and cost effectiveness.

• Mentor, train, and support junior engineers while promoting engineering best practices and standards.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with 7-8 years of relevant experience, or Diploma in Electrical Engineering with 10-12 years of relevant experience.

• Proficient in SEE Electrical for electrical design and documentation.

• Strong understanding of ISO standards and electrical design requirements across different markets and regions.

• Experience with process change management tools and methodologies.

• Solid knowledge of PLC systems, electrical control design, controllers, generators, switchgear, transformers, and related power systems.

• Experience in testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting electrical systems and control equipment.

• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including procurement, manufacturing, sales, and engineering.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.

• Subject matter expertise in a specialized electrical engineering discipline is an advantage.

• Proven ability to lead improvement initiatives and mentor junior engineering team members.
