Senior Data Scientist, Energy Industry

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join a high-impact data science team that operates as an internal consulting partner to the wider organisation. This team plays a pivotal role in driving the company's data and AI strategy by identifying opportunities to apply machine learning, advanced analytics, and automation to solve complex business challenges. In this role, you will not only develop and deploy robust machine learning models but also act as a strategic advisor, helping business leaders translate analytical insights into tangible outcomes.

Responsibilities:

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will design and implement end-to-end data science solutions-from problem framing and data exploration to model development, validation, and deployment. You will collaborate closely with teams across the organisation to define analytical approaches, evaluate model performance, and guide best practices for ethical and explainable AI. A key part of your role will be to communicate technical findings to non-technical stakeholders, articulate the reasoning behind model choices, and influence decision-making through clear, data-driven storytelling.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should bring at least 6 years of experience in data science or applied machine learning, with a strong foundation in statistics, programming, and model development. You should be fluent in Python and familiar with modern machine learning libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and XGBoost. Beyond technical expertise, you should demonstrate excellent stakeholder management, communication, and critical-thinking skills, with the confidence to challenge assumptions and defend your analytical approach. Experience in consulting, cross-functional data projects, or operating within a center-of-excellence model will be highly regarded.
