Job Description

Senior Credit Risk Analyst – Commodities Trading

Singapore | Permanent

  • International Trading MNC (Dry Bulk)
  • High visibility role (senior, strategic decision making)
  • At least 10 years experience in commodities credit

A well-established global commodities trading organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Credit Risk Analyst to lead counterparty credit risk assessment across physical commodities and structured trade transactions.

This is a senior individual-contributor role with team oversight, working closely with front office, finance, legal, compliance and regional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Risk Management

  • Conduct independent quantitative and qualitative credit reviews of counterparties and financial institutions
  • Recommend and sanction appropriate credit limits across commodities and transaction structures
  • Produce regular credit risk reporting (daily and periodic) for internal stakeholders
  • Advise business teams on transaction structuring using appropriate risk mitigation tools
  • Monitor market, financial and geopolitical developments impacting counterparty risk
  • Implement and enforce group-wide credit policies and operating procedures
  • Act as primary contact for credit insurance matters, including negotiations on insured limits and premiums

Operational & Project Support

  • Support enhancements to credit risk policies, systems and best practices
  • Contribute to integration of credit risk frameworks with CTRM, accounting (e.g. SAP) and other internal systems
  • Participate in credit-related system builds, testing and process harmonisation across regions

Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise closely with Legal, Compliance, Trade Operations and Finance on day-to-day credit matters
  • Support and advise regional credit teams by sharing best practices
  • Actively participate in cross-functional and regional initiatives

People Management

  • Mentor and supervise junior credit risk staff
  • Provide guidance on transactional credit risk execution and controls

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in credit risk management within commodities trading houses and/or financial institutions
  • Strong exposure to physical commodities and trade finance
  • Solid understanding of:
  • Counterparty credit risk, credit rating models, VaR, MtM
  • Trade finance instruments (L/C, B/L, B/C)
  • ISDA/CSA, derivatives and structured products
  • AML, KYC, sanctions and export controls
  • Experience assessing counterparties in emerging markets (e.g. China, India)
  • Prior experience mentoring or supervising junior staff preferred
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
