We are seeking an experienced Credit Approver to join our team in Singapore. In this role, you will conduct in-depth credit reviews and analyses of corporate, institutional, and SME clients across the Asian market. You will play a critical part in evaluating new products and transactions, approving deals within your authority, and providing well-founded recommendations to senior credit approvers.
The ideal candidate will combine technical credit expertise with forward-thinking strategic judgment, strong stakeholder management skills, and the ability to drive risk excellence across the region.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Analysis & Approval
- Conduct comprehensive credit reviews and analyses for corporate, institutional, and SME clients across the Asia Region
- Perform annual and new counterparty reviews, ensuring thorough assessment of creditworthiness
- Approve transactions within delegated approving authority or provide well-founded recommendations to credit approvers
- Address ad-hoc credit requests with timely and accurate analysis
Transaction Support & Structuring
- Collaborate with Business Units on structuring transactions to optimize risk-return profiles
- Review and advise on legal terms and documentation
- Evaluate new products and transactions, assessing credit implications and risk factors
- Provide general credit advice and analysis to support business decision-making
Portfolio Management
- Monitor portfolio developments and stay updated on client performance and market conditions
- Identify emerging risks and opportunities within the assigned portfolio
- Escalate concerns proactively and recommend mitigation strategies
Industry Engagement
- Maintain strong connections across the industry to stay informed of latest news, trends, and developments
- Network with peers, regulators, and market participants to enhance market intelligence
- Apply industry insights to improve credit assessment and risk management practices
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Build and maintain strong, dialogue-based relationships with Business Units, Risk Management, Legal, and other stakeholders
- Present credit recommendations clearly and confidently to senior risk management
- Foster open communication channels to support effective risk-business partnership
Experience & Qualifications
- 8+ years of regional Asia credit risk experience in a financial institution
- Proven exposure to corporate and institutional clients across multiple industries
- Strong track record in credit analysis and financial modelling across various sectors
- Experience preparing counterparty credit reviews and presenting to senior risk management
- Demonstrated leadership potential with readiness to grow into senior risk leadership roles
Technical Skills
- Expertise in credit risk assessment, financial statement analysis, and financial modelling
- Deep understanding of credit products, transaction structures, and legal documentation
- Knowledge of Asian market dynamics, regulatory environment, and industry trends
- Proficiency in credit risk systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint)

Education
