Head of Legal - Shipping
My client is a leading and growing Shipping Firm and we are recruiting for a Head of Legal to be based in the Singapore office.
Responsibilities for this Head of Legal - Shipping role
- Provide end-to-end legal support across shipping operations, commodity trading, and associated financing structures
- Act as a key advisor on complex trading disputes, including arbitration and litigation strategy in collaboration with external counsel where required
- Lead on transactional matters, including investments, divestments, and strategic partnerships
- Advise on shipping law, charterparty agreements, and regulatory considerations.
- Support financing arrangements, including structured trade finance, project financing, and banking documentation
- Partner closely with senior stakeholders (commercial, trading, finance) to provide pragmatic, business-oriented legal guidance
Requirements for this Head of Legal - Shipping role
- Bachelor's degree in law or equivalent law qualification, Bar qualified
- 15+ years of legal experience, ideally with a mix of top-tier private practice and in-house exposure within shipping, commodities, or trading environments
- Strong expertise in shipping law and trade/asset financing
- Experience advising on investments, divestments, and complex commercial transactions
