Senior / Head of Trading Compliance
Location: Singapore
A global quantitative trading firm is looking to hire a Senior / Head of Trading Compliance to support its expanding trading activities across global markets. This role will focus on exchange rule analysis, trading compliance, and market conduct oversight across electronic and algorithmic trading strategies.
This is a hands-on role where the successful candidate will work closely with trading and technology teams to interpret exchange rulebooks and ensure trading activity aligns with market rules and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Exchange Rulebook & Market Structure Analysis
- Monitor and interpret exchange rulebooks, circulars, and regulatory updates across global exchanges
- Assess how new or revised exchange rules may impact trading strategies and system behaviour
- Provide guidance to trading and technology teams on exchange requirements and market conduct
Trading Compliance Oversight
- Review trading activity to ensure compliance with exchange rules and market regulations
- Advise on order handling requirements, algorithmic trading rules, and exchange-specific controls
- Work with trading and engineering teams on the implementation of controls such as throttles, kill switches, and trading safeguards
Surveillance & Controls
- Develop and enhance trade monitoring and surveillance processes
- Investigate trading alerts or incidents and coordinate remediation where necessary
- Maintain documentation and internal compliance processes related to trading activity
Business Advisory
- Partner with trading, risk, and engineering teams to evaluate new strategies or market access
- Provide practical compliance guidance on exchange onboarding and trading infrastructure changes
Requirements
- Significant experience in trading compliance, market surveillance, or exchange rule analysis within an electronic trading or quantitative trading environment
- Strong understanding of exchange rulebooks and market structure, particularly across APAC exchanges
- Familiarity with algorithmic trading workflows and order lifecycle processes
- Ability to translate complex exchange rules into practical controls for trading systems
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment
Additional Information
- This role will initially operate individually rather than managing a team, so a hands-on approach is essential
- Singapore-based role, though relocation may be considered for the right candidate
- Candidates with experience across APAC exchanges are preferred (India experience not required)
- The firm is currently not pursuing regulatory licensing, so the focus of the role is trading and exchange compliance rather than licensing management
