Senior Commissioning Engineer - LNG (Greenfield)
Overview
Our client is a leading player in the energy sector with a strong pipeline of LNG developments globally. They are seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Engineer with a proven track record in greenfield LNG projects, supporting commissioning through to start-up and handover.
This is a critical, site-based role requiring a hands-on professional who has led commissioning activities across full project lifecycles, from construction completion to stable operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up activities across LNG plant systems
- Drive system completion including mechanical completion verification, walkdowns, punch listing, and close-out
- Execute and oversee testing activities such as loop checks, functional testing, flushing, pressure testing, and system energisation
- Support first gas, cool-down, and plant start-up in line with design intent
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, process, and instrumentation issues during commissioning and ramp-up
- Review and implement commissioning procedures, method statements, and start-up plans
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, vendors, engineering, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution
- Ensure full compliance with HSE standards, permit-to-work systems, and operational procedures
- Support performance testing, reliability runs, and final system acceptance
- Facilitate smooth handover to operations, including documentation and readiness
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline
- 10-20 years of experience in oil & gas, with strong focus on LNG commissioning and start-up
- Proven track record across multiple LNG projects, from construction through to handover
- Strong hands-on site commissioning experience in live plant environments
- Solid understanding of LNG process systems (liquefaction, regasification, storage, utilities)
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, cause & effect diagrams, and control philosophies
- Experience within EPC project environments and multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with process safety practices including HAZOP, PTW, and SIMOPS
