About the Role
Autobacs Venture Singapore is looking for an experienced Senior Car Mechanic &Trainer to join our growing team. You will be the go-to specialist for diagnosing and repairing complex engine, gearbox, and ECU faults, and just as importantly, you will teach and guide our young and less experienced mechanics- leading by example and showing them how the job is done correctly and safely. This role is based on a rotational posting across all Autobacs outlets, spending 3-6 months at each location to train, mentor, and help resolve a variety of mechanical issues on-site. Key Responsibilities
. Diagnose and repair faults in engine, gearbox/transmission, and ECU (and related TCU) systems using advanced diagnostic tools and equipment.
. Perform servicing, overhaul, troubleshooting, and repairs across mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle systems.
. Carry out preventive maintenance and routine servicing (oil changes, fluid checks, etc.) to quality and safety standards.
. Conduct test drives and post-repair system checks to verify successful repair outcomes.
. Accurately record repair details, labour time, diagnostic findings, and recommended parts in work orders and service records.
. Explain repair needs and recommendations clearly to customers, ensuring a high level of satisfaction.
. Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment in line with workplace safety procedures.
. Coordinate with the Team Leader/Workshop Supervisor on repair progress and priorities.
Training &Mentorship
. Teach and guide young and less experienced mechanics, leading by example on the workshop floor.
. Demonstrate the correct, safe way to carry out repair and diagnostic tasks, reinforcing proper technique and safety habits.
. Be posted to each Autobacs outlet (Ubi & Bukit Batok) on a rotational basis, typically 3-6 months per location, to train, mentor, and help resolve a range of mechanical issues on-site.
. Assess the skill level of junior mechanics at each outlet and tailor coaching and hands-on guidance accordingly.
. Champion a consistent standard of workmanship, diagnostic practice, and workplace safety across all outlets.
. Report directly to Senior Management of Autobacs Venture Singapore on training progress, outlet performance, and technical issues encountered.
What We're Looking For
. NITEC in Automotive Technology, Diploma in Automotive/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
. At least 5-10 years of hands-on experience as an Automotive Technician/Mechanic, with proven strength in engine, gearbox, and ECU diagnostics and repair.
. Proficient in using diagnostic scan tools and interpreting fault codes to troubleshoot complex issues.
. Able to read, write, and update maintenance, repair, and job order records.
. Valid Class 3 (and/or Class 3A) driving license.
. Strong problem-solving skills, good teamwork, and the ability to work independently.
. Good communication and coaching skills, with a genuine interest in developing junior mechanics.
. Willing to be posted across different Autobacs outlets (Ubi& Bukit Batok) in Singapore on a rotational basis (approx. 3-6 months per location).
Bonus Points
. Certification in hybrid vehicle systems and high-voltage battery handling/safety is a strong advantage.
. Prior experience mentoring, training, or leading a team of junior technicians.
