Role Summary:
The SeniorBuyer/ Merchandiser will lead the end-to-end buying and merchandising function for Opptra's fashion portfolio across Southeast Asia. This role owns seasonal and multi-season assortment planning, OTB management, buy quantification, pricing execution, allocation, replenishment, and in-season trading across online and offline (SIS) channels.
As Opptra operates an inventory-ownership model, this role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the right products, quantities, and price strategies flow into each marketdriving profitable growth, optimized inventory, and localized consumer relevance.
You will translate brand direction, category trends, and market insights into sharply defined assortments that balance segmentation, price corridors, trend relevance, commercial goals, and country-level nuances. This role requires strong analytical rigor, fashion sensibility, and the ability to operate independently while collaborating across brand, marketing, and supply chain teams.
Key Responsibilities
Assortment Planning & Category Strategy
- Lead seasonal and multi-season assortment planning for Softlines categories across SEA, with selected coverage for India and GCC markets
- Build consumer-relevant, commercially strong assortments aligned with trend, brand DNA, SKU performance, and market insights.
- Define segmentation logic, price architecture, and country-level assortment variations.
Buying Lifecycle Ownership
- Drive end-to-end buying processes including trend analysis, SKU selection, quantification, OTB planning, and buy placement.
- Own intake phasing, forecasting, and inventory flow to meet margin, sell-through, and stock-efficiency targets.
- Execute pricing strategy, markdown planning, and in-season trading decisions.
Range Productivity & Performance Management
- Track and analyze margin, sell-through, stock turn, pricing impact, and overall range performance.
- Recommend and execute corrective actionspricing changes, replenishment, stock transfers, and markdowns.
Market & Consumer Understanding
- Leverage market insights, consumer behavior data, and competitive mapping to build relevant assortments.
- Stay current with SEA fashion trends and buying patterns.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with brand teams, marketing, supply chain, and operations to ensure smooth launch planning, promotions, and inbound coordination.
- Collaborate on content needs, product storytelling, calendar alignment, and trade plans.
Inventory Ownership & Operational Excellence
- Manage inventory budgets, OTB, and lifecycle actions to ensure efficient stock and financial performance.
- Work with supply chain and compliance teams on inbound requirements, approvals, and operational nuances.
Leadership & Growth
- Operate with strong ownership and autonomy in a fast-paced, multi-country environment.
- Drive continuous improvement across planning, processes, and assortment execution.
Experience & Skills Required
- 710 years of buying and/or merchandising experience in fashion, lifestyle, or softlines.
- Strong expertise in assortment strategy, range planning, and multi-season buy development.
- Depth in segmentation logic, pricing corridors, SKU rationalization, and country-specific assortment optimization.
- Proven experience managing full buying lifecycle: trend analysis SKU selection quantification pricing in-season trading.
- Strong command of OTB planning, forecasting, intake phasing, and inventory management.
- Solid understanding of markdowns, discounting, and margin improvement levers.
- Strong fashion sense and product taste, with awareness of regional trends and consumer behavior in SEA.
- Experience buying for SEA markets including compliance and operational considerations.
- Proven collaboration with brand partners, marketing, supply chain, and retail operations.
- Highly analytical with strong ability to interpret performance data and act on insights.
- Independent, proactive, structured, and comfortable operating with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional alignment skills.
