Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Backup Administrator to manage and support enterprise backup and recovery infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments. The role is responsible for administering Cohesity, Veritas NetBackup, Data Domain, tape libraries, Azure Recovery Services Vaults, and SAN infrastructure while ensuring high availability, data protection, disaster recovery readiness, and operational excellence. The successful candidate will serve as the L3 technical escalation point, lead platform upgrades, automation, and backup modernization initiatives, and provide expert support for mission-critical backup environments.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Cohesity clusters, Veritas NetBackup Master and Media Servers, Dell Data Domain, Tape Libraries, Azure Recovery Services Vaults, and SAN switches.
- Manage backup, restore, replication, retention, and disaster recovery operations across Windows, Linux, and Unix environments.
- Perform platform upgrades, patching, OS hardening, firmware updates, and lifecycle management.
- Monitor backup performance, troubleshoot failures, conduct root cause analysis, and resolve complex production issues.
- Design, implement, and optimize backup policies for VMware, Nutanix, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle databases, NAS storage, and cloud workloads.
- Lead backup infrastructure migrations, disaster recovery testing, and platform modernization initiatives.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, storage, cloud, and vendor support teams to ensure service availability and compliance.
- Maintain documentation, operational reports, and adhere to ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Participate in on-call support and act as the final escalation point for critical backup and recovery incidents.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Strong experience with Cohesity DataProtect, Veritas NetBackup 11.x, Dell Data Domain, Azure Recovery Services Vaults, Tape Libraries, and SAN Switches.
- Hands-on expertise in backup administration across Windows, Linux, and Unix platforms.
- Experience with backup infrastructure design, disaster recovery, backup policy management, and enterprise backup operations.
- Strong troubleshooting, performance tuning, and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise backup environments and working with vendor support teams.
- Knowledge of VMware, Nutanix, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, NAS, and cloud backup solutions.
- Ability to work independently in a 24x7 production support environment and mentor junior team members.
