Job Description

Rajah & Tann Singapore is a member firm of Rajah & Tann Asia, one of the largest regional networks comprising award winning law firms with offices in 10 countries. Individually, each firm offers the highest standards of service to locally based clients. Collectively, we handle the most complex regional and cross-border deals.

With over 1,400 fee earners in the region working towards one shared goal of giving our clients the home advantage, we are the Lawyers Who Know Asia.

Who we are looking for

Our Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) transactional practice is growing quickly, and we are looking for a Singapore-qualified Senior Associate to join our team. You might be coming from a well-established law firm, or from an in-house role with relevant experience in Information Technology (IT), data, privacy, intellectual property, telecommunications and/or cybersecurity work.

You will be joining a team led by Partners who are highly specialised in this area and who lead the market with their expertise, ingenuity and problem-solving acuity. They enjoy conceptualising new legal services that have proven to be of immense value to organisations navigating the digital economy. Ours is one of the most established and respected practices in its field in the Asia Pacific region, and the team has picked up numerous accolades over the years.

You will be a key member of the team, working closely with experienced partners (including Senior Accredited Specialists and Specialists in Data and Digital Economy Law) on large and complex technology projects for clients across all sectors and industries. These span social media services, e-commerce, online and mobile gaming, consumer electronics, data centres, AI developers and platforms, telecommunications, financial services (fintech) and mobility (electric and autonomous vehicles).

Your role will also involve leveraging AI and agentic AI tools to enhance the delivery of legal services, including using generative AI for drafting, reviewing and summarising corporate documents, and designing or supervising AI-driven workflows that automate routine corporate, compliance and transaction processes, while ensuring legal accuracy, risk management, confidentiality and professional responsibility standards are maintained.

What you will be doing

  • Advising technology companies, AI developers, platforms, investors and enterprise users on the deployment, procurement and governance of AI systems, including regulatory compliance, risk management, data use, intellectual property and commercialisation strategies.
  • Leading complex digital regulation and platform governance matters, including online content, intermediary liability, trust and safety, online harms, marketplace regulation and the emerging requirements affecting digital services and online platforms.
  • Providing the full spectrum of data protection and cybersecurity related services including privacy & data protection advisory, data protection law compliance audit and consultancy, assistance in investigations by the Personal Data Protection Commission, and data licensing and commercialisation.
  • Structuring, negotiating and managing a broad range of technology and intangible assets transactions, including software licensing, SaaS, cloud services, outsourcing, digital transformation, data, telecommunications and strategic technology partnerships.
  • Assisting clients on cross-border technology transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, venture and strategic investments, joint ventures, technology transfers, and commercial partnerships involving technology and intangible assets across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Regularly engaging with regional telecommunications regulators on regulatory compliance matters.
  • Providing legal advisory in the areas of IT procurement; IT regulatory, blockchain and tokenisation.

This list is meant to give you an idea of the work that is done in our practice rather than serve as a checklist. Experience in every aspect of the practice is not a prerequisite. We invest in our lawyers, and you will have the training, mentoring and support you need to build expertise across our broad-based TMT practice.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Singapore qualified lawyer with at least 5 years post-qualification experience in either a law firm or relevant in-house position.
  • Experience in data protection, content regulation and compliance, intellectual property, cybersecurity, technology, or other related areas of practice.
  • Genuine interest in technology and current affairs, and the legal issues that come with it.
  • Good grounding in legal knowledge, with strong research capabilities and drafting skills.
  • Ability to think laterally, possesses initiative, drive, curiosity and willingness to learn, and ability to translate commercial acumen and knowledge of current affairs into strategic legal advice.
  • Mandarin language ability would be a plus, though it is not a must.
  • Works well in a team as well as independently.

If you are keen in this opportunity, we would be pleased to hear from you.
