Job Description

Job Summary

The candidate will support the full lifecycle of venture capital fund investments, from sourcing and evaluating fund opportunities to monitoring post-investment performance. Key responsibilities include assessing fund managers, preparing investment proposals, managing capital calls and exits, and conducting market and portfolio analysis. The role also involves supporting emerging fund managers, maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, ensuring documentation compliance, and contributing to strategic initiatives that enhance the venture capital ecosystem.

Job Description

Investments into Venture Capital Fund

  • Assist in identifying, reviewing and creating a new pipeline of fund investment opportunities that align with our investment objectives.
  • Assist in conducting the assessment on potential fund managers, including but not limited to their investment philosophy, track record team expertise investment process, risk management processes, and fee structure.
  • Assist to prepare fund investment proposals to be presented to the investment committee and board of directors.
  • Collaborate with the team on identifying key terms, including but not limited to economic term and investor right & protections, in the fund documents for the negotiation with the fund manager.

Post Investment Deal ownership

  • Assist to track and monitor fund manager to ensure adherence with regulations & industry standards, governance & control procedures and performance measurement & reporting.
  • Stay up to date market trends, tracking and reporting of performance of each of the fund's investments and measure against appropriate milestones and benchmarks.
  • Manage the capital call process and ensure that the fund meets the milestones and comply with the investment agreements.
  • Monitor all activities relating to exit/divestment approval & execution (i.e. strategy, due diligence, feasibility studies & negotiations with counterparties on key terms, structuring, financing, approvals, etc.) to enhance value, optimizer exit options.
  • Work closely with the Fund Monitoring team in preparation of internal reporting documentation and tracking performance in investee in funds.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities within the portfolio and work with portfolio companies to mitigate risk s and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Prepare internal reporting documentation and track performance of investee in funds.
  • Archive the investment documents and information in the portfolio management system as required by the fund Monitoring team.

Investment Research & Analysis

  • Conduct in depth qualitative and quantitative analysis on underlying investments.
  • Collaborate with the other investment team to identify and evaluate economic market trends and financial risks and opportunities of investments.

Fund Manager Support and value creation

  • Assist to provide fundraising support to the emerging fund managers by identifying and introducing them to potential limited partners.
  • Assist to provide operational support to the emerging fund managers with guidance in best practices in firm building, investment operations and strategic hiring.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build relationship with partners and venture ecosystems in the region, including early- stage start-ups, venture, corporate, strategic investors and limited partners.
  • Build partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, relevant ministries/government agencies and other strategic networks.

Document Management

  • Maintain records and relevant documents to ensure investment documentation are complete and up to date for ease of retrieval and future reference.
  • Any other roles and responsibilities as assigned by your line manager and/or Chief of Investment.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting & Finance, Economics, Technology/ Science or Engineering is preferred.
  • Master's Degree or Professional Qualifications such ass CFA, ICAEW, CIMA & Acca will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years working experience preferably in VC/PE firm, start-up firm, investment bank and management consulting firm.
