Senior Associate, Credit Analyst
Westpac's Institutional Banking division is seeking a Senior Associate, Credit Analyst to join its Asia business, based in Singapore. This is a
key credit role supporting priority client relationships across the region and offers meaningful exposure to complex, multi-product transactions and senior stakeholders.
Reporting to the Head of Relationship Coverage, Asia, the role is responsible for
end‑to‑end credit coverage of a defined client portfolio. You will act as a trusted credit partner to relationship managers and product teams, with clear accountability for credit judgement, risk identification, deal structuring input and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead credit coverage for a defined portfolio of corporate clients across multiple sectors, with accountability for credit assessment, structuring considerations and risk recommendations for new and existing relationships.
- Prepare high-quality credit submissions, including financial analysis, industry and sector assessment, downside and stress scenarios, and clear articulation of key credit risks and mitigants.
- Provide independent credit judgement and effective challenge to relationship managers and product partners, balancing commercial objectives with prudent risk outcomes.
- Actively monitor portfolio exposures, identifying emerging risks, covenant performance and early warning indicators, and escalating issues in a timely and constructive manner.
- Contribute to transaction structuring, including facility terms, covenants and security, to ensure appropriate risk-adjusted outcomes.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across coverage, product, credit risk and other control functions to support efficient deal execution.
- Participate in broader credit and business initiatives, including portfolio reviews, sector work and continuous improvement of credit practices.
What We're Looking For
- Demonstrated experience in credit analysis and risk assessment within corporate or institutional banking, including the ability to form and articulate clear credit views under ambiguity.
- Strong financial analysis and cash flow modelling capability, with experience assessing complex capital structures and lending arrangements.
- Well‑developed written communication skills, particularly in the preparation of concise, high-quality credit papers for internal approval forums.
- Sound commercial judgement and the ability to challenge constructively while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
- A proactive, self-directed approach, with the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy while contributing effectively within a team environment.
