NTU Institute of Structure Biology (NISB) provides a complete pipeline for Structural Biology to accelerate discovery in basic and applied Bioscience.
At NISB, we aim to integrate a comprehensive set of Structural Biology tools to address fundamental questions in biology, to understand human diseases and to accelerate structure-based drug discovery. We have the expertise and equipment to bring your gene of interest from plasmid to atomic level structure using a series of state-of-the art platforms for Protein expression, biophysical characterization and imaging using cryo-EM, tomography or X-ray crystallography.

Key Responsibilities:
Safety Management: Ensure compliance with laboratory safety guidelines by coordinating safety briefings, reviewing risk assessments and training records, and liaising with the NISB safety manager/NTU Office of Health and Safety.
Procurement & Asset Management: Oversee laboratory procurement in accordance with NTU procurement policies, maintain inventory and Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and manage ordering of consumables and chemicals.
Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate with service providers and NTU Legal on service contracts, and monitor contract validity and renewals.
Quotation & Billing: Handle customer requests, prepare quotations, and manage the billing and invoicing process.
Technical Support: Provide consultation and technical assistance to industry clients on protein expression, purification, and cryo-EM workflows. Train and supervise new users, including students and junior researchers, and support the development of standardized workflows for cryo-EM and protein production.
Platform Management and development: Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and proactively seek new collaborations with local universities, research institutes, and companies. Support the NISB Director in promoting NISB's platforms and initiatives to increase visibility and stakeholder engagement.
NISB team management: Lead the NISB core team in daily operations to ensure timely delivery of high-quality samples and services. Coordinate internal communications and contribute to strategic planning, including budget preparation and submission.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Life Sciences, or related disciplines.
Minimum 8 years of experience with 2 years in a supervisory role in laboratory management, administration, safety protocols, and procurement processes.
At least 1 year of hands-on experience in protein production (including prokaryotic and eukaryotic expression systems), protein purification, and cryo-TEM workflow.
Basic laboratory knowledge and technical skills are essential.
Experience in molecular cloning, protein expression, and purification is highly preferred. Familiarity with insect cell and mammalian cell expression systems is an added advantage.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
