The Senior Assistant Manager, Faculty Affairs provides strategic and operational leadership in managing all faculty-related activities within the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE). The role oversees faculty recruitment and appointment, culture and development, space and infrastructure, and operations, ensuring that faculty are well-supported in the areas of teaching, research, service and career development. This position plays a critical role in shaping faculty experience, enhancing engagement, and ensuring alignment with the School's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Faculty Recruitment

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of faculty recruitment and appointment, from initial outreach and recruitment, to onboarding, appraisal, promotion, and reappointment.

  • Take full ownership of operational workflows, ensuring no detail is overlooked and each process meets deadlines and institutional standards.

  • Drive structured processes that deliver a seamless experience for faculty and leadership alike.

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract, select, and retain top-tier academic talent.

2. Faculty Culture & Engagement

  • Drive initiatives to foster a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive faculty culture.

  • Lead the annual faculty performance appraisal process from planning to completion, with full accountability for timelines, accuracy, and compliance.

  • Oversee faculty engagement, recognition, and award nominations, including ensuring faculty research outputs are promoted through strategic platforms and events.

  • Manage faculty succession planning.

  • Support career development and leadership opportunities for faculty members.

  • Oversee faculty welfare, safety and case management, including faculty well-being, peer-to-peer issues, and student-faculty concerns.

  • Liaise with university support offices on mental health and well-being initiatives.

3. Space & Infrastructure Planning

  • Oversee space planning, including faculty and researcher offices, research-focused laboratories, and common spaces.

  • Support policy development, data analysis, and documentation related to space and infrastructure.

4. Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for faculty affairs-related queries from the Chair and other senior leadership.

  • Coordinate with College of Engineering to ensure consistency in faculty-related policies and initiatives.

  • Engage with HR, finance, and administrative teams to align faculty affairs with broader institutional goals.

5. Strategic Planning & Reporting

  • Update and maintain database of relevant faculty information. Be able to generate management reports for budget review and presentation slides on faculty matters for communication.

  • Provide support to team members as and when needed.


Qualifications:

  • Recognized university Bachelor/Master/PhD degree or its equivalent with at least 5 years experience in People Management.

  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational execution.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills to engage faculty, leadership and administrative teams.

  • Proactive problem-solving in areas of welfare, infrastructure, and culture.

  • Data-driven approach to decision-making, ensuring transparent and efficient processes.

  • Ability to build a positive, supportive faculty culture that enhances the School's reputation and impact.
