Ranked among the world's top universities. NTU Entrepreneurship Academy (NTUpreneur) provides education within the University and the region. The incumbent is responsible for initiating and implementing existing and new initiatives to drive, facilitate and execute student ventures pathways. The role is responsible for identifying and facilitating collaboration between NTU community, especially with NTUitive, and external stakeholders.
The incumbent will facilitate the connection of NTU students to available resources (for example, equipment) and facilities (Innovation Ports and Makers Labs) on campus. This role will work with multiple internal stakeholders in NTU to identify and provide the necessary support for high potential tech entrepreneurial projects. Where possible, the incumbent will co-lead the integration of major activities with the I&E Office and NTUitive.
The incumbent will work closely with the Manager, Experiential Learning, to strengthen, design and implement co-curricular activities related to innovation and entrepreneurship, and support the Deputy Director, NTUpreneur in driving the alignment of NTUpreneur's students I&E activities, and where possible co-lead the integration of major activities with the I&E Office and NTUitive.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate with Programme Leads, faculty/ instructors and other NTU schools to identify potential Tech-enabled or Tech-driven I&E student projects for NTUpreneur's venture creation support
Work closely with the Manager, Experiential Learning, Academic Leads, Faculty and NTU schools to identify, support and motivate students to continue and grow their I&E tech projects.
Outreach to promote and communicate available support for students I&E pathway.
Facilitate students access to such support and network.
2. Track progress of students I&E projects and ventures and provide support to acceleration
Maintain a database tracking all students I&E projects.
Monitor and regularly follow up with students, updating the status of their progress.
Assess situations/challenges students may be facing, and initiate discussions with Manager, Experiential Learning, faculty and instructors to provide further assistance.
3. Identify and facilitate collaborations with reputable organisations/ individuals of the local and international I&E ecosystem, government or government funded institutions, top overseas universities, and corporations.
Be familiar with active and reputable partners in the I&E ecosystem. Seek opportunities for collaborations with partners (internal and external).
Design a sustainable industry engagement framework to engage these partners, and translate to actionable plans to benefit the NTU community.
4. Design I&E co-curricular activities with internal and external stakeholders, and bring external content to enrich students exposure and learnings to increase capabilities and opportunities for venture building.
Work with NTUpreneur's academic programme Leads or their Managers to organise approved initiatives at the Innovation spaces such as Innovation Port at Wee Cho Yaw Plaza, One North at Blk 79 Ayer Rajah and allocated space at NTU Innovation Hub.
Work with representatives of NTU's Student Clubs and Societies such as NTUpreneur's Student Ambassador and Interest Groups, Entrepreneur Society (ES), Orientation Clubs of NTU Schools.
Manage space and I&E activities at Innovation Port at Wee Cho Yaw Plaza, One North at Blk 79 Ayer Rajah and allocated space at NTU Innovation Hub. Manage bookings and ensure that these facilities are well-maintained and conducive.
5. Oversee the implementation of the annual Chua Thian Poh Pinnacle Prize to ensure its continued success.
Drive the processes in the competition from receiving entries to pre-selection (for Finalist Shortlisting) to the Grand Finale through working Committees.
Coordinate and arrange competition-funded programmes such as fireside chats and masterclasses for the finalists and NTU community.
Work with multiple stakeholders to coordinate and implement the full logistics leading to the Grand Finale.
6. Provide mentorship in I&E (ventures and portfolio) for NTU students
Reach out to students who are in pre-ideation or ideation stages to provide mentorship. Encourage and guide them to available resources in NTU.
Suppport student intrapreneurs by providing advice for their I&E portfolio.
Match student teams to collaborate and accelerate the projects.
Match students to mentors in Mentorship Clinic. Track impact by gathering feedback, and monitor growth for potential to create ventures.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or business.
At least 3 years relevant work experience in a university and multi-disciplinary environment. Experience in the startup eco-system is a plus.
Experience in fact finding and analysing data
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
Experience in working with professors, I&E government funding agencies
Enjoy working with students, empowering and helping them to accelerate their I&E journeys
Capability to work independently to drive the execution of projects, but with strong attributes of a team player
Demonstrated resourcefulness, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to multitask efficiently, even under tight deadlines
Good communication and presentation skills
Meticulous with an eye for detail in organising information and tracking work progress
Knowledge in entrepreneurship, start-up development and ecosystem
Knowledge of best practices in venture support in world-class universities as part of a holistic entrepreneurship education
Knowledge in government grants, and other available support from related agencies for startups in Singapore
Experience in venture mentorship
Experience in budget planning, managing and processing claims in grants
