About School of Social Sciences (SSS)
SSS has nearly 100 faculty members and more than 1,700 undergraduates who major in the four degree programmes the School offers: Economics, Psychology, Public Policy and Global Affairs, and Sociology. Students also have the opportunities of choosing double majors such as Economics and Psychology, Economics and Public Policy & Global Affairs, and Economics and Engineering, etc. There are more than 180 graduate students in our PhD and MA programmes (by research), and MSc programmes in Applied Economics and Gerontology.
The School's holistic and rigorous education aims to prepare our students with analytical and critical capacities that can be applied in the classroom and future careers. Students will be able to further expand their learning horizons through overseas exchanges and internship experiences in Singapore.
Apart from being deeply engaged in their disciplinary pursuits, our faculty members are also at the forefront of cutting-edge research between the social sciences and other disciplines. The School has identified Global Asia, Environment and Sustainability, Science and Society as the strategic areas of interdisciplinary research and international collaborations.
This role assists the UG lead in the following areas:
Support AC(Academic) and Subject Head in the administration of two programmes: (i) Economics and (ii) Economics & Data Science (which is a collaboration with SPMS and SCSE).
Develop, review and streamline processes within the UG Office.
Identify and share best practices among the programmes in SSS.
Delegate tasks and set deadlines for support on routine tasks.
Train/guide members of the Undergraduate team as UG lead's indirect reports.
Oversee the following:
Examination matters for all programmes in SSS.
Student feedback on teaching for all programmes in SSS.
UG cases on student matters.
UG website (Sitefinity/student intranet/staff intranet).
Compulsory internship.
Outbound exchange and credit transfer.
Facilities booking for venues under SSS UG's care.
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for UG.
AI for Education and Teaching Pedagogy for SSS.
Exam
Ensure examinations run smoothly.
Review, update/implement new guidelines and policies for examination processing.
Initiate and kick-start examination processes.
Draw up Examination reference materials
Plan and coordinate Invigilation schedules
Assign moderator for examination question papers.
Submit question papers.
Perform second checks on the formatting of examination papers.
As the Programme Manager for Economics and Related Programmes Academic and Curriculum
Facilitate and oversee class and examination timetable planning.
Project no. of courses/places to be offered and plan teaching assignments.
Manage and oversee course registration related matters.
Assist the Subject Head or faculty on the submission of Academic proposals (for new courses/programme, change in assessment components, change in pre-requisites and various curriculum changes).
Work closely with partner schools to ensure no issues with the class time-tables for the joint degree programmes.
Manage the appointment and re-appointment of part time teaching staff.
Verify and recommend part-time teaching staffs rates.
Manage new programme- Philosophy, Politics and Economics (SPPE).
Graduation Project (GP) - for ECON and ECDS
Plan the timeline for GP pre-registration, registration and submission.
Work with GP coordinator on: criteria, marking rubrics, ethics review and supervisor allocation.
Assist with consolidation of marks given by examiners for submission to the GP coordinator for review.
Student Counselling
Work closely with the student care manager to help students who face academic issues.
Counsel/advise students on their academic progression.
Requirements:
A good Honour's degree in any discipline.
Have at least 4 years of experience in education sector.
Ability to coach team members to deliver quality services, provide guidance and training to team members.
Ability to identify key operational issues and escalate issues that require attention to the school's management for academic input or decision making.
Experience in managing academic matters such as matriculation, course enrolment, candidature and student status, examination, academic results and graduation.
Strong project management skill.
