JOB DESCRIPTION
The Corporate Communications (CC) division at A.STAR maintains the organisation's visibility in a constantly shifting and crowded media landscape. We communicate how our discoveries translate into meaningful outcomes for the public, industry, and scientific community through a dynamic, multi-channel approach.
The Engagement Team designs and delivers meaningful experiences that resonate with stakeholders and position A.STAR as a leader in its field. As SAD, Engagement, you will lead the planning and execution of strategic events and programmes that allow A.STAR to engage directly with key stakeholders and showcase its technology, talent, and impact. These efforts contribute to fostering partnerships and enhancing the organisation's reputation.
The ideal candidate exercises sound judgement, works effectively independently and with others, and brings practical common sense to complex situations. They are a strong relationship builder who engages stakeholders confidently, balances strategy with execution, and remains organised, adaptable and calm under pressure, demonstrating professionalism and ownership.
This role leads a team of officers, and reports directly to a Deputy Director, Corporate Communications.
RESPONSIBILITIES
. Lead the delivery of key events (e.g. conferences, launches, visits) to achieve defined communications objectives, ensuring quality and protocol standards
. Set clear direction for event formats, themes, and content to maximise stakeholder and/or audience impact
. Drive the annual engagement strategy and calendar in line with organisational priorities
. Engage internal teams and external partners across government, industry and the research community to ensure events are aligned with their expectations and interests
. Oversee budgets and vendor performance to ensure value for money
. Use audience insights and performance data to strengthen engagement outcomes and continuously refine programmes
. Lead and develop the Engagement team
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
. 6 - 8 years of experience in event management or related fields.
. Proven people manager with experience leading and developing teams.
. Proven ability to lead high-impact events, work with senior stakeholders, and manage cross-functional teams.
. Strong project management, problem-solving, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
. Ability to translate engagement objectives into well-designed event formats and programmes to achieve objectives.
. Data-driven mindset - able to set KPIs, analyse engagement metrics and optimise future programmes.
. Experience in marketing and/or audience engagement techniques to enhance engagement outcomes is an advantage.
