Senior Assembly Process Engineer

Responsibilities

• Mentor and cultivate a high-performing team to foster continuous improvement in assembly processes. Collaborate with project teams to align on technical objectives, budgets, and scheduling. Oversee task planning, prioritize critical activities, and maintain smooth daily operations. Implement engineering controls and training programs to promote a zero-incident safety culture, including laser safety risk assessments and audits. Monitor and expedite the closure of RFQs by managing Turnaround Time (TAT) effectively. Lead the execution of Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), First Lot Production (FLP), and First Article Inspections (FAI) to meet customer specifications. Communicate with customers during escalations and provide regular updates to management on progress. Ensure operational readiness for smooth project handoffs to production teams. Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles to optimize quality, yield, and manufacturability at every stage of production. Drive development of testing strategies, process enhancements, and design reviews for new products. Prepare and document production transfer processes, conducting risk assessments and tooling development. Implement process controls, facilitate technician training, and resolve technical challenges using methodologies such as SPC, 8D, FMEA, and DOE. Lead initiatives aimed at improving yield, enhancing efficiency, and minimizing waste. Participate in local sourcing and supplier qualification activities.

Requirements

• Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Optical, Materials, Mechanical, or Precision Engineering, or in Physics/Chemistry. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical, engineering, or manufacturing environment, preferably in optical, laser, or cleanroom manufacturing. Proven leadership capabilities within mechanical, optical, laser, or fiber product development or manufacturing settings. Demonstrated success in executing process improvement projects utilizing DOE, 8D, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies. Hands-on experience with Design for Manufacture (DFM), New Product Introduction (NPI), and process development. Experience in commissioning test and measurement systems for laser or fiber assembly products. Familiarity with implementing and maintaining process control and quality assurance systems. Strong knowledge of root cause analysis, 8D problem-solving, and conducting Design of Experiments (DOE). Experience in customer collaboration and leading escalations or technical discussions. Experience working in environments standardized to ISO9001, ISO14001, and AS9100. Understanding of Residual Gas Analysis (RGA) process controls will be advantageous.
