Senior AS400 Developer (COBOL)
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior AS400 Developer (COBOL) with 8–10 years of experience in financial services environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Core Banking, Payments, Wealth Management, Insurance, and Mortgage platforms, along with deep technical knowledge of COBOL/400, CL, and DB2.
This role requires an individual capable of handling end-to-end delivery, working closely with cross-functional teams, and supporting large-scale, high-volume, regulatory-critical banking systems.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain applications on AS400 / IBM i platform
Develop and enhance programs using COBOL/400, CL, and DB2
Support Core Banking, Payments, Wealth Management, Insurance, and Mortgage applications
Own end-to-end delivery including development, testing, deployment, and production support
Collaborate with business, operations, and technology stakeholders to deliver solutions
Perform impact analysis, effort estimation, and technical design documentation
Manage production issues, root cause analysis, and resolution
Work in multi-country, multi-team environments supporting global banking platforms
Ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards
Participate in system optimization, performance tuning, and platform modernization initiatives
Support release management and change management processes
Required Skills & Experience
8–10 years of experience in AS400 Development
Strong hands-on experience in:
COBOL/400
CL Programming
DB2
AS400 / IBM i
Experience working with large-scale legacy banking systems
Strong knowledge of banking and financial services domain
Experience in high-volume transaction processing systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience in production support and incident management
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
