BCS is NETS wholly owned subsidiary, and is an entity within the NETS Group. It manages and operates clearing and payment infrastructure for the Singapore Automated Clearing House, including Fast And Secure Transfers (FAST), Inter-bank GIRO (IBG), Cheque Truncation System (CTS), and provides services for PayNow and SGQR Central Repository.

Team and Position Summary

The Technology Division at BCS is responsible for the operations, maintenance, and support of BCS applications such as FAST, Giro, CTS, PayNow, SGQR, TFR, CCP, eGIRO and its critical infrastructure, ensuring its operational stability, regulatory compliance, and service reliability.

The Application Delivery department is regarded as BCS domain experts, overseeing the enhancement, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of applications, ensuring its functionality, security, and performance in alignment with set standards.

The Senior Application Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and delivering scalable, secure, and business-aligned technology solutions that support the organization's strategic objectives. This role encompasses architecture planning, solution design, proof-of-concept development, and providing technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in Java technologies and AWS, with a good track record in application architecture, sql query optimisation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted technology advisor to business and delivery stakeholders, providing architectural leadership from strategy, planning, and solution design through implementation and production support.
• Design and govern robust, scalable, secure, and resilient application architectures that support critical business operations.
• Experience in defining application architecture types like layered, SOA, event-driven, domain-driven-design, and microservices.
• Provide hands-on support including prototyping and coding.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain solution alignment.
• Ensure compliance with security and best practices.
• Translate complex business and functional requirements into practical, high-quality technical solutions and architectural blueprints.
• Define integration and data exchange strategies.Conduct architecture reviews, performance assessments, scalability planning, capacity modeling, and resilience evaluations to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
• Build proof-of-concepts (POCs)
• Review technical designs, code, and solution assurance activities to maintain architecture integrity and development quality across projects.
• Support build, deployment, and testing phases.
• Develop and maintain expertise in Java technologies (e.g., SpringBoot / SpringBatch), AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, RDS, EKS, ECS, CloudWatch) and database technologies (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, NoSQL).

Requirements

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in designing and building applications.

Skills and Knowledge

• Strong hands-on experience in Java technologies, with deep expertise in Spring Boot, Spring Batch, and enterprise-grade application architecture and development.
• Proven experience supporting and managing critical applications across both on-premises environments and AWS Cloud, ensuring high availability, resilience, security, and operational excellence.
• Strong leadership and practical experience in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, security integration, and deployment automation.
• Proficient in AngularJS and modern web application development frameworks,
• Experience working in a regulated financial institution is an advantage, with a good understanding of governance, compliance, risk management, and audit requirements.
• Hands-on and detail-oriented professional with a strong sense of ownership, collaborative mindset, and demonstrated ability to drive outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to engage, and present to senior stakeholders, including C-Suite executives and Board members.

Professional Certification

• AWS Certification – Solution Architect Associate and Developer Associate is a must.
