About the firm

Our client is a technology-led consulting start-up focused on the financial services industry, created as an alternative to traditional consulting firms where rapid expansion has often diluted depth, quality, and impact. The firm brings together top-tier talent in AI, digital transformation, and financial services to work in small, high-calibre teams that prioritise client-focused work and tangible outcomes. Their mission is to challenge the status quo and redefine what it means to be a trusted consulting partner, delivering real, measurable value rather than slideware or generic frameworks.

Role overview

The Senior AI Consultant will play a key role in a sub-20 person Singapore office, leading AI-enabled transformation engagements for banks, asset managers, fintechs, and other financial institutions. The role sits at the intersection of AI, digital transformation, and financial services, helping clients translate strategic business and operational goals into executable AI roadmaps, operating models, and delivery plans. Working closely with the founders and senior leadership, this person will help build and scale the firm's AI consulting offering while remaining hands-on in client delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end client workstreams across AI strategy, digital transformation, and product-enabled change within financial services institutions.
  • Work with senior client stakeholders to clarify business and operational objectives, map pain points, and identify AI and data use cases aligned to measurable value.
  • Design AI operating models, governance structures, and ways of working tailored to regulated financial institutions, balancing innovation with risk, control, and compliance.
  • Develop AI transformation roadmaps, including use case prioritisation, value cases, implementation plans, and change/adoption strategies.
  • Take a hands-on approach to delivery management in a lean team, including planning, structuring work, tracking progress, and managing risks and dependencies.
  • Translate complex technical concepts (e.g. machine learning, generative AI, automation) into clear, actionable recommendations and stories for executive audiences.
  • Manage stakeholders across business, technology, data, and operations to drive alignment, resolve blockers, and ensure adoption of AI solutions.
  • Contribute to building the practice by refining methodologies, creating reusable assets and IP, and mentoring junior team members in AI and transformation topics.
  • Support business development by shaping proposals, participating in client pitches, and contributing to thought leadership on AI in financial services.

Key skills and experience

  • 510 years of experience in consulting, digital transformation, strategy, or product roles, ideally with meaningful exposure to financial services.
  • Proven track record delivering AI, data, or analytics-driven transformation initiatives from strategy through to execution and change management.
  • Strong structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down ambiguous client problems and develop clear, actionable solutions.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with experience facilitating workshops and presenting to senior stakeholders and executive committees.
  • Solid understanding of core AI concepts (such as machine learning, generative AI, and automation) and how they create value in financial services business and operating models.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivery management, including planning, resourcing, risk management, and reporting across complex programmes.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to navigate competing priorities and build consensus across business and technology teams.
  • Comfort operating in a start-up consulting environment: proactive, adaptable, willing to roll up sleeves and wear multiple hats without large-firm support structures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, computer science, data, or a related field; a relevant postgraduate degree (e.g. MBA) is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with agile delivery methods and common cloud / data / AI platforms is beneficial.

What this role offers

  • Opportunity to work in a small, high-impact team directly alongside founders and senior leaders.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge AI and digital transformation programmes in leading financial institutions.
  • A culture that prioritises client outcomes, craftsmanship, and integrity over utilisation metrics and hierarchy.
