We are a recruitment firm supporting our client, a fast-growing fintech company building AI-native payment and financial workflow infrastructure, in hiring a Senior AI / Agent Engineer based in Singapore.
This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who has experience in payments / fintech / transaction systems and is excited about applying LLMs and AI agents to real production use cases.
You will work directly with the client's CTO, who has a strong technical background from leading technology companies. The role requires strong engineering fundamentals, project ownership, and the ability to turn ambiguous business problems into scalable technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build AI agent applications for payment, fintech, merchant, and financial workflow scenarios.
- Develop production-grade LLM systems, including RAG, tool calling, workflow automation, and agent orchestration.
- Lead projects end-to-end from architecture to implementation and deployment.
- Build backend services, APIs, and integrations for payment-related systems.
- Work on reliability, security, monitoring, evaluation, and guardrails.
- Collaborate closely with the CTO and founding team on product and technical direction.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience.
- Strong backend, platform, infrastructure, applied AI, or fintech engineering background.
- Experience in payments, fintech, transaction infrastructure, wallet, checkout, settlement, ledger, risk, fraud, KYC, AML, or related areas.
- Hands-on experience with LLM applications, AI agents, RAG, tool calling, workflow automation, or agentic systems.
- Strong coding, system design, API, database, cloud, and production engineering skills.
- Experience leading engineering projects end-to-end.
- Comfortable working in an early-stage, high-ownership environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, MCP, OpenAI API, Anthropic API, or Gemini API.
- Experience building internal AI assistants, operations agents, finance agents, or developer agents.
- Startup or 0-to-1 product experience.
- Mandarin Chinese is a plus, but not required.
