The Market Analysis team sits in the central Commercial Market Analysis team and is responsible for generating short-to-medium term market insights (up-to 5 years). This incorporates supply and competitor analysis; demand forecasts (including downstream sectors); trading support; and price forecasting. The team focus is to leverage these insights and analysis to support Commercial decision-making and generate value across Sales & Marketing, Procurement and Marine & Logistics. The Market Analysis team also provide short-to-medium term market context and commodity price forecasts across the Group.

We are looking for a Senior Advisor Market Analysis to join a high performing team, focus on procurement, labour and logistics market analysis and collaborate with multiple stakeholders to draw commercial insights.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Procurement, Marine & Logistics Market Analysis, you will

  • Deepen and broaden our understanding of procurement, logistics and associated markets.
  • Deliver insights to the Procurement and Commercial Operations teams to improve commercial outcomes, e.g. trading and negotiation support, supplier and competitor intel, price forecasts, tools, models and scenarios.
  • Advise on contractual benchmarks and market-based reference points to support procurement negotiation strategies and ensure alignment with prevailing market conditions.
  • Develop and maintain regular research using our vast array of external research and internal datasets to draw market conclusions that will affect many parts of our business.
  • Collect, synthesize, analyse and interpret information and data to forecast industrial performance; underpinned by a robust and transparent set of methodologies.
  • Collaborate with other Market Analysis teams to coordinate price forecast updates, draw cross-commodity insights, and share best-practice.

About You

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have

  • University degree in either economics, technical or commercial discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven ability to synthesize a narrative and generate high quality reports.
  • Advanced fluent written and spoken English.
  • Proven relevant experience and analytical skills with the ability to critically analyse data and identify trends and key drivers.
  • Proven ability to work well in a team environment with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Managing, maintaining and redesigning complex Excel models.
  • Automated data visualisation reports in Power BI.
  • Ability to advise senior stakeholders and influence views via a fact based/informed approach.
