Our client is a growing organisation supporting mining and resource-based projects across the region, with a strong focus on gold mining operations. The business works closely with overseas stakeholders and project sites, providing equipment, financial support, and operational coordination.
The Role
This is a hands-on Senior Accountant role supporting regional operations, with exposure to overseas project environments. You will be responsible for managing full set accounts, ensuring compliance, and supporting financial reporting across entities.
The role reports to a Finance Manager based overseas and requires someone comfortable working independently while coordinating with regional stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle full set of accounts including GL, AP, AR, and bank reconciliations
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Manage cashflow, forecasting, and budgeting support
- Ensure compliance with local and overseas tax regulations (e.g. GST, corporate tax)
- Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and overseas finance teams
- Support cross-border transactions and project-related accounting
- Assist in consolidation and multi-entity reporting where required
- Maintain proper financial records and documentation
- Identify and improve accounting processes and controls
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- Minimum 5-8 years of accounting experience, with full set exposure
- Experience working with overseas entities / cross-border operations (PNG or similar markets preferred)
- Familiar with multi-entity environment and regional reporting
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, tax, and compliance
- Comfortable working in a lean setup with high ownership
- Experience with accounting systems (e.g. Xero, MYOB, SAP or similar)
- Good communication skills to liaise with overseas stakeholders
Nice to Have
- Exposure to project-based / mining / commodities industry
- Experience dealing with emerging markets (e.g. PNG)
- Prior experience in a standalone or small team environment
