Job Description

The APAC Accounting Hub in Singapore plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong compliance, and smooth coordination across markets. As part of Spotify's global Finance team, we support a fast-growing, cross-border business that operates with speed, accountability, and high standards.

We're looking for a highly self-motivated Senior Accountant to serve as the day-to-day Japan finance point of contact while supporting broader APAC reporting. This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, structured, and comfortable operating in a lean, fast-paced environment with cross-border complexity. You'll help embed Japanese language capability within the APAC team and partner with regional and global stakeholders across Finance and other functions as needed.

What You'll Do:
-Serve as the Japan finance point of contact within the APAC Accounting Hub, coordinating and escalating finance-related matters as needed

-Own Japan reporting, statutory filings, accounting controls and compliance timelines

-Partner with global Tax, Treasury, Legal, and APAC Accounting teams on Japan-related operational and compliance matters

-Coordinate with Japan Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) provider on local execution processes, including WHT documentation, Japan tax office communications, Japan Citibank-related paper documentation, and physical submissions

-Review and validate Japan statutory financial information and ensure alignment between IFRS and local GAAP reporting where required

-Interpret feedback or notices from Japan tax authorities and external service providers, assess impact, and coordinate follow-up actions internally

-Prepare and support consolidated APAC reporting during close cycles, statutory filings and related audit requirements for designated APAC entities as needed

-Perform variance analysis and follow up on key issues identified across Japan and APAC reporting

-Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual dependencies, and improve coordination efficiency

-Participate in regional and global calls as required (night calls expected at not more than 5% of work time depending on close cycles and projects)

-Contribute to special projects, system enhancements, and ad hoc analyses as assigned

Who You Are:
-Minimum 5+ years related accounting operations experience within a multinational company, ideally in a technology or fast-paced environment

-Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

-CPA, CA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred

Strong understanding of IFRS and exposure to local statutory reporting

-Experience coordinating with external service providers such as audit firms, tax agents, BPO providers

-Business-level Japanese (spoken and written) and strong professional English communication skills are required

-Technically proficient with ERP systems and MS Office including advanced Excel skills

Strong analytical and communication skills across all levels

-Comfortable managing cross-functional and external stakeholder coordination and navigating cross-cultural communication

-Thrive in lean teams, take ownership of your work, and remain adaptable in evolving environments

Where You'll Be:
-This role is based in Singapore and follows our hybrid work model, with an expectation of 2-3 days per week in the office
